Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stated that they will start a new process after the Ramadan Feast under the concept of “village life centers” using village schools as active education units, and in this context, public education courses and summer camps in fields such as agriculture and animal husbandry in village schools in cooperation with 4 ministries. announced that the activities will be organized.

Minister Özer stated that the number of provinces he visited to make contacts regarding education and training activities exceeded 40, and that one of the most important shortcomings he saw during his contacts was village schools. In this context, Özer underlined that their priority is the use of school buildings as re-education units, and said that in this context, they reduced the number of students from 10 to 5 for opening kindergartens in village schools. Stating that this step has made a significant improvement in regions where kindergarten cannot be opened in terms of the number of students, and that they have enabled 12 thousand students to benefit from pre-school education within this scope in a short time, Özer stated that if there is no possibility to use the village schools as a primary school, they will definitely be used as kindergartens.

Pointing out that their priority is to serve the village schools at the level that the region needs, Özer said, “In the next leg of the project, we will start the new process under the concept of 'village life centres', which is about the active reuse of all village schools in Turkey and all the village schools in the neighborhoods after the transformation into a metropolitan city. Here, too, our aim is to actively use these school buildings as educational units.” he said.

The four ministries will work in cooperation

Noting that they will open a public education center in village school buildings if there is no opportunity to use it as an education unit, Özer continued: “We will start this project in all village schools. With this project, we aim to support our villagers by providing training on agriculture and animal husbandry. We will carry out these processes with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and our work on this issue has been completed. On the other hand, if the physical space and capacity are sufficient, we will transform the village schools into summer camps, and we will manage this process with the Ministry of Youth and Sports. We will transform our village schools to actively use them according to the needs of the region. Our Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change will also be involved in this process. Therefore, we are launching a very comprehensive project in which 4 ministries are actively involved after the holiday.”

Beekeeping training will also be provided.

Minister Özer pointed out that the problems related to the supply chain and water supply around the world make agriculture and animal husbandry much more critical. For this reason, highlighting the importance of using the existing capacity much more efficiently, Özer said, “In this context, we will set up our public education centers in the buildings of our village schools, to increase the awareness of our citizens about agriculture and animal husbandry, to take a continuous course in all fields from beekeeping with new initiatives and new techniques without going to the city. We will create a mechanism through which education service comes. Therefore, we will have the ability to act strongly together with all our units, villages, cities, towns and districts in development.” made its assessment.

Minister of National Education Özer stated that the Kovid-19 epidemic once again revealed the role of qualified production and high value-added products in the competitiveness of the world, and said: Our country will move forward with firm steps towards the future with a much stronger production capacity in the fields of defense industry in the fields of intellectual property with high added value in the industry.”
