A procurement committee organization was held simultaneously with the "Olivtech 26th Olive, Olive Oil, Dairy Products, Wine and Technologies Fair" held in Fuarizmir between 29-2022 May 10 by the Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters' Association under the coordination of the Ministry of Trade.

Stating that they brought together importers from Bulgaria, Iraq and Moldova with Turkish companies within the scope of the Purchase Mission, Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters' Association President Davut Er said that Olivtech Fair, Turkey's first olive and olive oil fair, opened new markets for Turkey's olive and olive oil exports. He said he continues to earn.

70% increase in olive oil exports

Informing that the olive oil industry brought in 2021 million 22 thousand dollars in foreign currency in return for 32 thousand 312 tons of olive oil exports in the first half of the 107/332 season, EZZİB President Er said, “In the same period of the last season, we signed an export of 22 million 719 thousand dollars in return for 63 thousand 286 tons of olive oil exports. we threw Our olive oil exports increased by 42 percent on amount and 70 percent on foreign currency basis. We succeeded in exporting our olive oil with 19 percent more value added in dollar terms. This success is even more meaningful in the process of banning the export of bulk olive oil twice in the last 1 year.”

Er said, “Unfortunately, we realized the Olivtech Fair under the shadow of an export ban” and said, “In the bilateral meetings we held, we saw that many buyers were forced to turn to different countries for the supply of olive oil in packages over 5 kg. Due to the said restriction, we started to lose our current customers to other producer countries. . If the restriction continues, it will cause an irreparable loss of our export markets in the long term in the Turkish olive and olive oil sector and will cause great harm to the whole sector, from producer to exporter. As the Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters' Association, we find the said restriction practice extremely wrong and we reiterate our demand that this wrong be reversed as soon as possible. Rather than prohibitions and restrictions, the issue we attach great importance to is efficiency. Although Turkey's olive tree assets have reached the level of 190 million, we have not yet achieved the increase we expected in production. We should increase production not by preventing exports, but by what methods, solutions should be sought and formulas should be developed.”

Table olive exports run to 100 thousand tons

Informing that Turkey's table olive exports for the 2021/22 season started on October 1, 2021, EZZİB President Er said, “We are also having a successful season in table olive exports. While our table olive exports reached 72 thousand tons, the foreign exchange return was 113 million dollars. For the first time this year, we will exceed 100 thousand tons in table olive exports," he concluded.
