Ozturk, repeating his call to the people of the capital to save water, said, "We have 136 million 148 thousand cubic meters more water than last year, but we should use water sparingly without getting complacent."
The global drought, which has affected the whole world, continues to affect the dams feeding the capital Ankara.
ASKİ General Manager Erdoğan Öztürk announced that the total occupancy rate of the dams providing drinking and utility water to Ankara was 9 percent and the active occupancy rate was 2022 percent as of May 41.87, 29.79. Öztürk also called on the people of Başkent to use water consciously and to save money.

Head of the Water Treatment Department, Nuri Kali, and ASKİ General Manager Erdoğan Öztürk, who made investigations at the Kurtboğazı Dam, gave important information about the occupancy rate in the dams:
“The total volume of our dams that provide drinking water to Ankara is 1 billion 584 million 13 thousand cubic meters. As of May 9, 2022, there is an occupancy rate of more than 41 percent in dams, but when we look at our active occupancy rate, we see that it is around 29 percent. Our water volume in the dams, which was 527 million 258 thousand cubic meters last year, has reached 663 million 406 thousand cubic meters today. So what does this mean? We have 136 million 148 thousand cubic meters more water volume in the dams compared to last year.”
WATER SAVING WARNING
Öztürk pointed out that the total amount of water supplied to the city is around 1 million 400 thousand cubic meters, but that water should be used sparingly without being complacent.
“Therefore, since this rate is a serious figure, an increase of 136 million cubic meters in water volume should never push us to comfort. Every drop of our water is precious. We will continue to show the same attention we have shown so far on water conservation. We need to make the maximum effort to save. Please let us be more careful than ever while consuming our water.”
Öztürk also said that they carry out joint studies with NGOs, Ankara City Council, Professional Chambers and Neighborhood Headmen to raise awareness of citizens on water conservation.
11 DAM SUPPLYING WATER TO ANKARA
The capital's drinking water is obtained from Çamlıdere, Kurtboğazı, Kesikköprü, Eğrekkaya, Peçenek, Türkşerefli, Uludere, Akyar, Çubuk 2, Kavşakkaya and Elmadağ Kargalı Dams.
The General Directorate of ASKİ, which has 2 million 499 thousand 544 subscribers, monitors the amount of water in the dams instantly via digital sensors and continues to regularly disclose it to the public on its official website. Kurtboğazı Dam, which is also used for recreational purposes and has a maximum water volume of 92 million 53 thousand cubic meters, is fed by Bahti, Mera, Kınık, Pazar, Uzunöz, Bostan, Kayıcık, Batak, İğmir, Kirazlı, Eneğim and Karaboya streams.
