It is the th and the 5th airport in the world. There is no other example in Europe. With its 45-meter-wide and 3-meter-long runway, it is a project that will fully meet the airline transportation needs of the region. It will serve 3 million passengers a year," he said.
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu made inspections at Rize-Artvin Airport, and then made a press statement. Karaismailoğlu said, “We are happy to come to an end in our Rize-Artvin Airport project. As you know, this era is synonymous with 'accessibility' and 'speed'. The development of air transportation, which is of increasing importance day by day, and strengthening its position in the international arena continue to be the priority agenda of every developed country. I must proudly and gladly state that; As the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, we have made great and important developments in the aviation sector in the last 20 years.
TURKISH CIVIL AVIATION TURNED INTO A GLOBAL POWER
"Turkish civil aviation has become a global power thanks to our practices, policies and regulations," said Karaismailoğlu, adding that the airline is the way of the people. Noting that the investments in the airline sector amounted to 147 billion TL, Karaismailoğlu continued his speech as follows;
“We introduced Turkey to new airports that meet the needs of the age. We also modernized the existing airports from top to bottom. In 2003, the number of active airports was only 26. Today, we have 25 airports with Tokat Airport, which we put into the service of our people on 57 March. Now, we are very excited to introduce a new service to our nation. With the opening of our Rize-Artvin Airport, which we built on an area of 3 million square meters, we increase this number to 58. Our Rize-Artvin Airport is the 2nd sea-filling airport in Turkey and the 5th in the world, after Ordu-Giresun Airport. There is no other example in Europe. We have completed the runway, apron, taxiway and all infrastructure works of our airport. From the beginning of April, test flights started. With its 45-meter-wide and 3-meter-long runway, it was a project that would fully meet the airline transportation needs of the region. It will serve 3 million passengers annually. We are talking about an enormous structure with a total indoor area of 32 square meters, including a 47 thousand square meter terminal building and other support buildings.”
WE BUILT A TOWER IN THE FORM OF TEA CUP
Minister of Transport, Karaismailoğlu, drew attention to the fact that the terminal building, which reflects the local architecture, and the 36-meter-high tower inspired by the form of a tea glass were built at the airport, which bears traces of the cultural elements of the region. Stating that the illuminated tower will add a different vitality to the silhouette of the region, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu emphasized that they have also taken important steps for the landscaping of Rize-Artvin Airport, which is one of the few examples in the world with its technical and construction features. Karaismailoğlu said, “We have greened 135 thousand square meters of our airport, which has a landscape area of more than 49 thousand square meters, with 453 trees that are compatible with the geographical features of the Black Sea. In order to introduce Rize tea to the whole world, and to explain the journey of tea from the garden to the cup, we are opening a Tea Museum inside the terminal. In addition, we aim to turn our terminal into a multifunctional meeting center with artistic objects. to our region kazanRize-Artvin Airport, which we have visited; It will provide uninterrupted transportation to our Eastern Black Sea Region, Rize and Artvin, from domestic and international airways. This will open the natural beauties of the region, especially Rize and Artvin provinces, to world tourism. In other words, it will make a great contribution to our economy by using the tourism potential correctly. We will meet the transportation needs of our Eastern Black Sea region, where road transportation is difficult due to its geographical features, in a faster and more comfortable way. We will establish a transportation point for passengers going to the Eastern Black Sea region and Georgia from domestic and abroad. Thus, it will both support the political and economic relations between us and the countries of the region and accelerate socio-economic and socio-cultural development. kazanIt will increase the investment potential of the region.”
OVER 1,2 BILLION DOLLARS IMPACT ON PRODUCTION DURING THE CONSTRUCTION PROCESS
Underlining that the airport directly or indirectly benefited 56 different sectors during the construction period and will continue to provide it during the activity period, Karaismailoğlu said, “In this context, during the construction period; Its effect on national income is 556 million dollars, its effect on employment is 28 thousand 100 people, and its effect on production is over 1,2 billion dollars. We offer our airport beyond Turkey, to all countries bordering the Black Sea, and to the Middle Corridor, one of the most important trade routes between Asia and Europe, in short, to the service of the world. A part of the passenger and freight transportation by road in our region will thus be transferred to the airway. We will also prevent fuel consumption, road maintenance-repair costs and traffic accidents caused by road transport. In addition, time-related costs will be saved. Road traffic will be relieved. This will provide a reduction in exhaust emission values. Paradise would only suit our Black Sea like this," he said.
DIVIDED ROAD LENGTH IN RİZE REACHED 190 KM
Explaining that the investments in Rize are not limited to this, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Karaismailoğlu gave the following information about the investments made;
“20 years ago, Rize had only 16 kilometers of divided roads; We reached a total of 174 kilometers by making another 190 kilometers. We have completed very important projects such as Rize-Trabzon Coastal Road, Rize-Artvin Coastal Road, Ovit Tunnel and Connection Roads. We put into service the Hurmalık-1 and Hurmalık 2 Tunnels and the Connection Roads and the Salarha Tunnel, which our brothers from Rize have dreamed of for 70 years. We also follow our other highway projects closely. Work continues intensively on our city hospital fill area project. The construction of Iyidere Logistics Port, which will be the new address of large-tonnage ships with an annual capacity of 3 million tons of general cargo, 8 million tons of bulk cargo, 100 thousand TEU containers and 100 thousand vehicles ro-ro, continues rapidly. Rize will be the transfer center of the combined transportation chain that will result from the potential traffic between the Caucasian countries and the Middle East countries. Rize kazanacak, Black Sea kazanwill, our country kazanit will hurt.”
Pointing out that Rize-Artvin Airport will provide great services, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu added that it will also inspire new breakthroughs both in Turkey and in the world.
