President Erdoğan: “Delivery of the ship, which can perform all kinds of military missions from air defense to submarine defense, will be made at 2023-month intervals starting from August 6.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in the video message he sent to the launching ceremony of the third ship of the Pakistan MİLGEM Project, said, “The production processes of all these ships, which are equipped with the most modern weapon and sensor systems developed by our country, are proceeding as planned.” used the phrases.
The third ship of Pakistan MİLGEM Project, Badr, was launched at Karachi Shipyard with a ceremony attended by Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Pakistan Defense Production Minister Muhammed Israr Tareen and other officials.
President Erdogan began his speech by emphasizing the deep-rooted historical ties between Turkey and Pakistan.
Wishing that the aforementioned project, which is one of the most concrete examples of these ties between the two countries in the recent period, will be beneficial, President Erdoğan said: "I regard the Pakistan MİLGEM Project, which is a sign of our will to share the knowledge in the field of defense industry with our friends, as a harbinger of greater cooperation."
Describing Pakistan as the country with the most strategic location in South Asia, which is among the leading geographies of the world, President Erdoğan said:
“Throughout history, this geography has been the apple of the world's eye with its ancient culture and wealth. Pakistan and its people have a special place in our nation and in our eyes. We see it as a requirement of our brotherhood law to make every contribution to strengthen the military infrastructure of Pakistan, whose security, stability and prosperity we equate with ourselves. With this understanding, we ensured that the project, which we started to build 4 MİLGEM class corvettes for the Pakistan Navy, proceeded without delay despite the epidemic period, within the framework of the determined schedule. The construction phases of the ships, two of which were built in Pakistan and two in our country, are being completed one by one.”
“We will continue to move forward together”
Reminding that they launched the Babur ship last year in Istanbul as part of the Pakistan MİLGEM Project, with a ceremony attended by Pakistani President Arif Alvi, President Erdoğan stated that they are also happy to have the Badr launched into the water today. Announcing that Kaibar, another ship of the project, will be launched in Istanbul in September, President Erdoğan said:
“The production processes of all these ships, which are equipped with the most modern weapon and sensor systems developed by our country, are proceeding as planned. The deliveries of these 4 ships, which can perform all kinds of military duties from air defense to submarine defense, will be made at 2023-month intervals, starting from August 6. There are many more defense industry projects, from helicopters to airplanes, that we carry out with our Pakistani brothers. By realizing these step by step, we will strengthen our friendship and strengthen the roads leading to our common future. As Turkey and Pakistan, we will continue to move forward together on this path by protecting our stability, protecting our unity, solidarity and brotherhood, and strengthening our states.”
At the end of his speech, President Erdoğan congratulated those who contributed to the realization of the project and conveyed his greetings to the people of Pakistan.
