In the Presidential 3rd International Yacht Races, 400 athletes competed with 40 sailing yachts and completed the Muğla stage. At the ceremony held in Bodrum Castle, the winners of the Halicarnassus Cup received their awards. Arçelik Sailing Team is the team that completed the race the fastest this year. He was awarded the Honors award.

The Presidential 3rd International Yacht Races started from Marmaris on 25 May and ended in Bodrum on 27 May with the completion of the challenging route. A fierce competition took place in the race, in which 14 boats and 40 athletes from 400 countries participated.

Presidential 3rd International Yacht Races Muğla stage; It was organized under the auspices of the Presidency, with the contributions of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, in cooperation with the Governorship of Istanbul and Muğla, by the Istanbul Offshore Yacht Racing Club within the scope of the 2022 Activity Program of the Turkish Sailing Federation and with the main sponsorship of DHL Express Turkey.

Muğla Governor Orhan Tavlı, Ministry of Youth and Sports Sports Services General Manager Mehmet Baykan, Aksaz Naval Base Commander Rear Admiral İbrahim Kurtuluş Sevinç, Bodrum Governor Bilgehan Bayar, Bodrum Deputy Mayor Turgay Kaya, DHL Express Turkey CEO Mustafa Tonguç, Istanbul Offshore Yachts Club President Ekrem Yemlihaoğlu and many guests were present.

At the event, the Karya Flowers Efe Group and the Aksaz Naval Base Command Military Band had pleasant moments with the guests.

Congratulatory message from the President

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan sent a message to the ceremony that he could not attend due to his busy schedule. In his message, Erdoğan said: “I congratulate all our athletes who participated in the competition for their efforts, efforts, sacrifices and compete in a gentlemanly manner. I see the Presidential 3rd International Yacht Race, which is taking firm steps towards becoming one of the most prestigious races in the world, as a new sign of our country's self-confidence in yacht sports. I would like to thank all our relevant organizations in the person of our President of the Istanbul Offshore Yacht Racing Club, who took part in the execution of this important sporting event. I would like to congratulate our athletes who ranked as a result of the race, which I believe to be a smash hit, and once again I greet you with respect.”

President Ekrem Yemlihaoğlu

Ekrem Yemlihaoğlu, President of the Istanbul Offshore Yacht Racing Club, expressed in his opening speech that they are very happy to have signed an organization that grows with increasing momentum every year. Expressing that the race, which they organized for the third time this year, is of great importance for sailing and yacht sports in Turkey, Yemlihaoğlu said, “I would like to thank everyone who supported us, especially our President Mr. Erdogan. Today, we have come to the point of being an organization that has dreams and is prestigious in the international arena. We are sailing to be a hope for peace in this heavenly geography, to be a voice for peace, and we invite everyone who believes in peace to set sail.”

14 boats 40 athletes from 400 countries

14 boats from 40 countries, which completed the difficult stage starting from Marmaris and ending in Bodrum, set sail from Marmaris on 25 May. In addition to Turkey, 400 athletes from Spain, Switzerland, Netherlands, Portugal, Italy, Slovenia, France, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Belarus, Lithuania and England participated in the competition.

Arçelik Sailing Team left their mark on the competition by winning a total of 3 awards, namely Line Honors, IRC Maxi and Knidos Special Award.

Awards given at Bodrum Castle

The Presidential 3rd International Yacht Races award ceremony was held on Saturday, May 28, at Bodrum Castle, hosted by Ekrem Yemlihaoğlu, President of the Istanbul Offshore Yacht Races Club. At the ceremony, awards were given to the winners among the boats competing in 9 different classifications.

Presidential 3rd International Yacht Races; With the main sponsorship of DHL Express Turkey, it started in Muğla, Turkey's brand city and tourism capital, and will end on 30 October in Istanbul, the meeting point of the continents.

Knidos Special Award

The teams that passed the Knidos nose first in their class and received the Knidos Special Award this year were: Arçelik Sailing Team, Leshiy, Wings Of Oz Racing, Fenerbahçe Doğuş Yelken, Silverline Cygnus, Carrot Jam, The Swiss Express Sailors, Orion Yelken and Taxi Yelken.
