May their souls rest in peace, may their place be heaven. Let me be a victim of the language of these beautiful people who say, 'Fully independent Turkey'. At the event, the book "68 of Turkey: Streets to the Seas", prepared by IMM Publishing, was also introduced.

THANKS TO İMAMOĞLU FROM BORA GEZMİŞ

Deniz Gezmiş's elder brother, Deniz Gezmiş, Chairman of the Independence and Freedom Foundation Bora Gezmiş, also made a speech at the event. Brother Gezmiş expressed his feelings, “We started the commemoration program for the 8th anniversary 50 months ago. Since I will not be able to see the 50th anniversary again, we said that we should commemorate this 50th anniversary with respect to the memories of those young people, as it deserves. We prepared a program, but Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu Our President intervened and said, 'Let's expand this, let's open it more'. He supported us. Thank you. I would like to thank Mr. Ekrem President for making us meet with you here today and commemorate those young people. I want to end with two paragraphs. These are the paragraphs that will best express the 68 generation to you. 'The homeland is not for those who sell it parcel by parcel; It is the homeland of those who go to the narrow tree for its sake. "I am proud to present myself to Turkey's independence at the age of 24," he said.

“WE SHOULD BRING HALALIZATION, NOT REVENGE”

IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu In his speech at the event, he emphasized that Gezmiş, Aslan and İnan were executed with the "revengeful" feeling that emerged after the military coup of 12 March 1971 and with a decision that would disturb their consciences. Saying, "These events in the very recent past should always remind us how harmful social polarization is," İmamoğlu said, "Every responsible individual of this country should be brave and generous in conveying messages in the name of reconciliation, not polarization. He should stand against those who feed on polarization and hug his neighbors, fellow countrymen, citizens, and every person he knows, even if they have different opinions. We should all be able to race our ideas, never forgetting the good of this country. We should prioritize forgiveness, not revenge. This is what will carry our country to a more peaceful future.”

TRIP HIGHLIGHT

Stating that there are many people who lost their lives during the 68 generation process, İmamoğlu said, “We have other young people whose pain we share from past to present and their experiences. We have young children that we lost yesterday in Gezi Park. Everyone's ideal was for this country to be good, happy and peaceful. Young children lost their lives," he said. In his speech, İmamoğlu congratulated Emel Korkmaz's mother, Ali İsmail Korkmaz's mother, who was in the hall. Noting that he would like to commemorate Gezmiş and his friends in an environment where the ideals of "fully independent Turkey" are realized in the future, İmamoğlu said:

“YİĞİT, MERT WERE YOUTH IN THEIR 20S”

“These young, diamond-like people who say 'A fully independent Turkey' are known to millions of our citizens in this country as traitors, they are known as enemies; do you know that Of course, it all comes together to face it and to struggle with it by asking 'Why is this known like this'. We should tell. These were young people in their 20s who were brave enough to say 'Full independent Turkey' so that this homeland would not be sold or given away, while people who thought of it as an enemy and shouted about nationalism were after other games. We need to tell this. If we haven't been able to tell for 50 years, we need to sit down and look in the mirror. But I am ready to tell these truths everywhere. I will tell these truths in the same language in Diyarbakir, in Edirne, in Trabzon and in Van with the same feelings. There will be no different slices anywhere.”

“Let me be a victim of their language that says 'FULLY INDEPENDENT TURKEY'”

Calling those who try to do justice to democracy, freedom and peace to be careful, İmamoğlu used the following statements:

“Let them not forget that they have this great struggle ahead of them and that it is essential to achieve success in the great process. Little people deal with little details, little things. We, as 85 million people, should be great people, and this great ideal is our state that smiles on the 100th anniversary of the Republic, reconciled with each other, destroyed its prejudices, can talk to each other, can come to terms with each other, that state extends its hand of warm compassion instead of fear, that everyone is a citizen. Let's not forget that it is our duty to bring this country together with this country and to keep it alive. And I hope that if we all experience a process in which everything is very beautiful in a truly meaningful way, yes, I, too, as your brother and fellow citizen, who remembered Deniz Gezmiş and his friends properly, I will have gone home from here in peace. May their souls rest in peace, may their place be heaven. Let me be a victim of the language of these beautiful people that say 'Full independent Turkey'.
