PİGEP, by the Ministry of National Education, in order to achieve the standard in the usage areas of 1003 school hostels affiliated to the General Directorate of Secondary Education, to offer the warmth of the home environment to the students, to create new living spaces in the hostels, to bring the students together with art and science, and to reorganize the hostels by taking into account the needs of the students, is the Directorate of Student Hostels and Scholarships. The project, which is planned for 2022 years to cover the years 2024-3, was included in the investment program by the Presidency of Strategy and Budget with a total budget of 166 million TL. With the budget released in 2022, improvement works were started in hostels.

With PİGEP, it is aimed to create a quality standard in the existing usage areas of the school hostels affiliated to the General Directorate, to create new living spaces in the hostels by providing the students with a home environment, and to bring the students together with art and science by establishing art and science workshops. The project also aims to strengthen the physical capacity of hostels, taking into account the needs of students.

From the ward to the room system, from the bunk bed to the base

Making an assessment on the subject, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer said, “The Project for the Improvement and Development of Hostels has been implemented in order to achieve a standard in approximately 1.000 school hostels affiliated to our General Directorate of Secondary Education, to offer students the warmth of a home environment, to create new living spaces in hostels, and to bring students together with art and science. ” used the expressions.

Özer continued as follows: “We aim to support our students' holistic development by providing rich educational opportunities. Within the scope of improvement and development works in hostels, there will be a transition from ward to room system in dormitories, and from bunk beds to bases. With the new opportunities we offer, our students will be able to use a wooden functional wardrobe with two doors instead of metal wardrobes.”

Indicating that porcelain serving plates and double boiler tables will be used in the dining halls instead of table d'hotes, Özer said, “Equipped areas will be created in the study hall, where individual and group studies will be carried out. In order to prevent hand contact in terms of cleanliness and hygiene, galoshmatics will be placed at the building entrances and shoe cabinets for each student will be placed.” used the expressions.

Art workshop for hostels

Stating that they try to reveal the skills of the students and ensure that they have a pleasant time in the hostels with suitable physical facilities, Özer gave the following information: “The areas where the concept of a small stage with nearly 40 instruments will take place, there are painting easels and materials where students can express their visual abilities. An 'Art and Music Workshop' will be established.

'Science Workshop', where students can work on technological materials, product development, software, coding, patents and utility models using 3D printers; Common areas called 'Open Address Corner' will be created, where a decent environment will be provided for students to play mind games, have fun, watch TV and have fun together outside of class.”
