Ankara Metropolitan Municipality has started to assemble drinking water vats (SIVAT) to meet the water needs of animals grazing on pastures in rural areas.

Explaining that they provide this support for the development of animal husbandry and protection of ecological balance in the Capital in his post on his social media accounts, Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş said, “We have installed drinking water vats (SIVAT) at 20 points to meet the water needs of animals grazing on the pastures. We started working at 119 more points.”

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality continues to diversify its support to farmers in order to contribute to the development of agriculture and animal husbandry in the Capital.

The Rural Services Department has started to assemble drinking water vats (SIVAT) for the first time in order to meet the clean water needs of grazing animals, especially in rural neighborhoods (upland and pasture areas).

Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş, who announced that ABB has started to provide this support to the farmers dealing with animal husbandry, on his social media accounts, said, “While preserving the ecological balance in our capital, we are taking a big step for the development of agriculture and animal husbandry. We have installed drinking water vats (SIVAT) at 20 points to meet the water needs of the animals grazing on the pastures. We started working at 119 more points.”

BAŞKENT ANKARA SETS AN EXAMPLE WITH ITS AGRICULTURE AND LIVESTOCK PROJECTS

ABB continues to set an example for the whole of Turkey with its work on agriculture and animal husbandry in Başkent.

The Rural Services Department, which continues its support to develop the domestic producers in the capital, has now implemented a new project for the farmers dealing with animal husbandry. ABB, which started the installation of drinking water troughs (sivat) in order to enable the animals taken to graze on pastures and springs to reach clean water sources faster and easier, aims to carry out the installation of cisterns at 1000 points throughout the capital.

A TOOL OF SIVAT CONSISTING OF 5 GROOVES AND 1 HEAD IS PLACED AT EACH REQUESTED POINT

In line with the demands from the farmers, the Metropolitan Municipality, which has installed a set of sockets consisting of 5 grooves and 1 head at each point, has placed sockets at 20 points with its own means, and will start work at 119 more points.

Hüseyin Şemsi Uysal, Director of Rural Services Department Agricultural Structures and Irrigation Branch, stated that they have implemented the slurry project to facilitate the access of animals to water in rural neighborhoods, and gave the following information:

“We provide various supports to our farmers in the rural areas of Ankara. We continue to diversify this, and the swat project is one of them. We will implement this practice in 1000 regions in order to facilitate the access of animals to water and to ensure that they drink clean water. Our distributions will continue until about the 9th month. Together with our citizens, we started a campaign like 'water is a charity' and we are organizing it. This project will also contribute to increase the meat and milk yield of animals. Wild animals will now have easy access to water. Thus, we make use of limited water resources without wasting them.”

SIVATS ALSO CONTRIBUTE TO THE CONSERVATION OF ECOLOGICAL BALANCE

The support of Sıvat will also contribute to the increase of meat and milk production by encouraging livestock in rural districts, enabling animals to reach water sources more easily in plateau and pasture areas.

ABB, which has placed basins especially in areas where wild animals live, for the protection of wildlife, also aims to use the limited water resources more efficiently and to protect the ecological balance with the project.

THANKS TO THE METROPOLITAN FROM FARMERS DEALING WITH LIVESTOCK

The teams of the Rural Services Department started to renovate the cracked, broken and idle irrigation fountains or to complete the deficiencies by installing new ones, taking action upon the petitions received from the headmen in Nallıhan, Beypazarı, Güdül and Haymana districts.

Neighborhood headmen, herd owners and breeders thanked the Metropolitan Municipality for this support with the following words:

Fikret Başak (Haymana Yurtbeyli District Headman): “In the past, our animals could not get healthy water here. Now they will be able to drink water more easily and cleanly. They immediately respond to our petitions and provide their services.”

Aygun Mutlu (Mayor of Yukarı Baglica Neighborhood): “The water troughs made in our neighborhoods 60-70 years ago were not water-repellent because they got old. The financial side of this service may be low in the eyes of the citizens, but the development of such a project by the Metropolitan is very big for us in terms of morale. We think that it will be beneficial for animals living in nature, as well as domestic animals, in order to improve animal husbandry in our neighborhoods. It is a very important service for the protection and development of natural life. I would like to thank the Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality, Mr. Mansur Yavaş, and all the officials.”

Alaeddin Sutcu (Haymana Yurtbeyli District): “I am a shepherd in this village. I am grateful to the Metropolitan Municipality. Because there is a water shortage in the countryside. Thank you to our municipality for solving this problem. There was 1 pool before and it was insufficient. Thanks to you, our animals will now be comfortable.”

Celal Özdemir (Nallıhan Yukarı Baglica District): “I am engaged in sheep breeding. There is water, but our gutters were inadequate. That's why our animals were dehydrated. We heard that our Metropolitan Municipality is giving gutters. Our mukhtar applied and the groove was made, thank you.”

Gurcan Yasar: “The new plasters have been very good. Livestock was a real need for herd owners. I would like to thank the Metropolitan Municipality Rural Services Department for meeting this need.”
