Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality Uğur İbrahim Altay examined Turkey's first olympic velodrome, the construction of which has reached the final stage, before the 9th Islamic Solidarity Games, which will be hosted by Konya between 18-2022 August 5. Stating that they are in intensive preparation to prepare Konya for the organization, Mayor Altay said, “We will have gained a very important facility with this velodrome made for the development of cycling sport. Hopefully, our athletes trained here will achieve significant success not only in Turkey but also in the world. One of the benefits of the Islamic Solidarity Games to our city is the facilities it brings. I wish you good luck.” said.

While the countdown continues for the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games, which will be hosted by Konya in August, Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay, together with Konya Youth and Sports Provincial Director Abdurrahman Şahin, examined the olympic velodrome, which is nearing completion.

“WE ARE INTENSIVE PREPARATION”

Emphasizing that the preparations for the biggest organization Konya has held so far are continuing at full speed, Mayor Altay said, “We are in intensive preparation to prepare our city for the organization. We have reached the final stage in the construction of Turkey's first Olympic velodrome. When the construction is complete, the velodrome will be ready for our competitors.” he said.

WE ARE WORKING TO STRENGTHEN KONYA'S BICYCLE CITY

Reminding that Konya is a bicycle city, Mayor Altay continued his speech and said: “We are in the city with the most bicycle paths in Turkey by far, with 552 kilometers of bicycle paths. We are in intense activity to strengthen Konya's 'bicycle city' qualification. We are building new 80 kilometers of bike paths. We carry out activities for our students to go to school by bicycle, we build bicycle parks, but we will have gained a very important facility with this velodrome for the development of bicycle sports. Hopefully, our athletes trained here will achieve significant success not only in Turkey but also in the world. PRESIDENT ALTAY THANKS TO PRESIDENT ERDOĞAN

President Altay, who thanked President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who helped bring the Islamic Solidarity Games to Konya, and Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu, Minister of Youth and Sports, who contributed greatly to the construction of the facilities, on behalf of all Konya residents, and said, “I hope this place will be a lively place starting from August 9th. will enter the period. We will host more than 56 athletes from 3 countries in our city. Konya is completing its preparations. Good luck with our Islamic Solidarity Games.” he finished his speech.

The Olympic velodrome, which is planned to become a high-level training and training area in cycling; It will have a capacity of 2 thousand 275 spectators and a 250-meter track.
