Zübeyde Hanım, the mother of the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, was commemorated at her grave on Mother's Day. Speaking at the ceremony, President Tunç Soyer said, “We bow respectfully before our mothers, all the women who have the feeling of motherhood in their hearts, and all our mothers who have passed away. We are working in İzmir so that the light in the eyes of mothers and the excitement in them can never go out, so that they can raise children.”

At the ceremony that started after the National Anthem and a moment of silence, President Tunç Soyer said, “As every year, on Mother's Day this year, we are at the grave of Zübeyde Hanım, the precious mother of our Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. We cannot thank Zübeyde Hanım enough for raising a son who saved this country from bondage and left a bright future for all of us. Children who are planted with seeds of courage, self-confidence, faith and goodness multiply these seeds when they grow up. The democracy, freedom, equality and patriotism that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk gifted to our country are the fruits of these seeds. After two sad years due to the pandemic we live in, it is a pleasure to meet our mothers again. We know that the biggest concern of mothers is for their children. Their greatest aim is to raise them in a just country where peace, prosperity, democracy and peace prevail. We, in İzmir, are working so that mothers can raise children whose light in their eyes and excitement never goes out. We bow respectfully before our mothers, all the women who have the feeling of motherhood in their hearts, and all our mothers who have passed away. We commemorate Zübeyde Hanım, the precious mother of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who gifted this unique homeland to our nation, with respect and gratitude.”

CHP İzmir Deputy Özcan Purçu said, “Happy Mother's Day. Today, we are in the presence of our father's mother, our father's mother, Zübeyde Hanım. We remember him with gratitude and love. We are grateful to him for gifting us the world's greatest revolutionary and commander,” she said.

Turkish Mothers Association Karşıyaka Branch President Feyza Işıklı said, “The Turkish Mothers Association continues to work as the protector of our republic, following the path drawn by Atatürk. As mothers, we will try to raise our children and young people as successful people in science, technology and art. Our steps will always be forward,” he said.
