Karaismailoğlu said, “After the epidemic that was effective in the world in 2020, aviation was one of the most affected sectors. The number of passengers worldwide and in our country has decreased considerably. The investments we made and the measures we took played an important role in the recovery in this process. During the pandemic period, Istanbul Airport was named the second busiest airport in the world in 2021 by the Airports Council International (ACI World). In 2021, it managed to host 76,4 million passengers with an increase of 75,7 percent.
