NEW TAXI SYSTEM REJECTED FOR THE 14TH TIME

IMM Secretary General Can Akın Çağlar, who chaired the UKOME meeting, said, “The 5 thousand new taxi offers are not IMM's revenue generation strategy. This is a strategy to make the lives of our citizens of Istanbul easier. In order to take a public initiative, we recommend that these taxis be operated by the public. Then the voting took place. 500 New Taxi Supply Proposals, 5.000 of which are Accessible, have been voted on. The proposal was rejected for the 14th time by the majority of the representatives of the Ministry and the President of the Chamber of Craftsmen.

TAXI PULLING 4 VEHICLES FROM TRAFFIC

Reminding that the necessity of increasing the number of taxis has been discussed in previous periods, Utku Cihan, Head of Transportation Department of IMM, said, “It has been reported that Istanbul needs a taxi. Istanbul needs a taxi, this is very clear. We all experience this, we see it when we go out. When you put the taxi into traffic, it pulls 4 vehicles out of the traffic. Taxi drivers do not even use technological applications, they close them. We've always had these kinds of conversations. Therefore, we are very tired of taking the issue to other points. We bring it to the agenda because we believe that we will make a decision from the members of the board here that we will solve this problem.”

THE STATUS OF TAXI DOLLUS HAS BEEN REFERRED TO THE SUB-COMMISSION

The proposal to convert the minibuses operating throughout Istanbul into taxis was also on the agenda. After the evaluations, the proposal was referred to the subcommittee.
