With the coordination of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, an administrative fine of 3 million 788 thousand 628 TL was imposed on the Malta-flagged commercial ship, which was found to have polluted the sea off the coast of Yalova in the Izmit Gulf, and a judicial investigation was initiated regarding the incident.
The inspection teams of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, which reached the highest number of inspections in the history of the Republic with over 2021 thousand environmental inspections in 57, continue their inspections uninterruptedly within the scope of the Marmara Sea Action Plan.
In order to contribute to the inspections carried out in the Marmara Region, 35 thousand 23 environmental inspections were carried out in the last 713 days by the Environmental Inspectors sent as reinforcements from the central organization of the Ministry and the Provincial Directorates, and the units to which the authority was transferred on marine pollution.
Oil and fuel contamination displayed
Within the scope of these inspections, it was determined that the Maltese-flagged commercial ship Jabrayil Doylatzadeh caused oil and fuel pollution in the sea, during the routine controls made by the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality by plane in the Gulf of Izmit, based on the "delegation of authority for marine pollution inspection" made by the Ministry yesterday. was done. The current situation was recorded with photographs and camera images and reported to the Ministry.
Based on the determination of marine pollution, the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change provided the necessary coordination and the Coast Guard Command imposed an administrative fine of 2872 million 3 thousand 788 TL on the ship, which was determined to cause sea pollution, by the Coast Guard Command for violating the Environmental Law No. 628, and a judicial investigation was initiated regarding the incident.
With this last transaction, the administrative fines imposed on 35 enterprises and 109 ships in the last 5 days during the inspections carried out in the Marmara Region amounted to 34 million TL. During these inspections, 37 enterprises were banned from operating.
