The Global Warming Congress Committee held its 17th event this year in Fuarİzmir against the environment and climate crisis that threatens the world and our country. At the Global Warming Congress, which has been held every year for 17 years to raise awareness against the climate crisis, the motto "Recycling for Better Livable Cities is Indispensable" was put on the table and discussed. The event, which was made with the contributions of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, was held on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at İZFAŞ, within the scope of the We-Cycle Environment and Recycling Technologies Fair, which was held for the first time.
Organized by the Global Warming Convention Committee, with the contributions of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and sponsored by Toyota, the event is supported by the Economy Journalists Association (EGD), New Seeking Initiative Platform Association (YAPDER), and Renewable Energy Support Platform, as every year.
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer made the opening of the event, which was organized to spread the awareness that the world we live in also belongs to future generations. In the event, which was held under the management of Global Warming Congress Committee Chairman and Economy Journalists Association High Advisory Board Chairman Celal Toprak, United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) Board Member Servet Yıldırım and Reis Gıda Board Chairman Mehmet Reis attended and gave speeches online.
İTHİB Board Member Sultan Tepe moderated the first session called 'Media's Perspective on Recycling' held in the foyer area of İZFAŞ, İzmir Journalists Association President Dilek Gappi, Economy Journalists Association (EGD) President Recep Erçin, Turkish Journalists Federation President Yılmaz Karaca EKOIQ Editorial Its director, Barış Doğru, took part as a speaker.
Environmental writer and journalist Ahmet Aydın Akansu was the moderator of the second session called 'Business World's Perspective on Recycling', which was also held in the same area. In the session in the second part, civil society leaders and business people took the floor. Small House Appliances Industrialists Association President Senur Akın Biçer, İZIKAD Chairman of the Board Betül Sezgin, Blue Growth Policies Unit Head Saygın Can Oğuz, Biotrend Energy İzmir Harmandalı Facility Manager Burak Şahin, TUDAM President Vedat Kılıç shared his views and suggestions on recycling.
In the final part of the congress, 'Why is recycling important? question was put on the table. In the forum moderated by Celal Toprak, Chairman of the Global Warming Congress Committee, Toyota Turkey Corporate Relations Director Selim Okutur, Trakyam Producing Women Cooperative Chairman Aynur Çeşmeliler, Ataşehir Municipality Environmental Protection and Control Manager Ayten Bağdatlıoğlu Kartal, Hamburger Recycling Turkey Waste Management AŞ Chairman of the Board Ebru Tunç Akbulut. and TOBB Waste and Recycling Industry Councilor made speeches. At the same time, the participants in the hall took the floor and drew attention to the importance of recycling.
