Governor Karadeniz attended the consultation meeting where the current status of the "Mesir Paste Festival" was evaluated on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of its registration in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Representative List.
A consultation meeting was held on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the registration of the Mesir Paste Festival, one of our most ancient traditions, to the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
To the meeting held with the video conference system; Governor Yaşar Karadeniz, President of UNESCO Turkey National Commission Prof. Dr. Öcal Oğuz, Deputy Mayor of Metropolitan Municipality Mehmet Palabıyık, Rector of Manisa Celal Bayar University Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ataç and related parties attended.
Making the opening speech of the meeting, UNESCO Turkey National Commission President Prof. Dr. M. Öcal Oğuz informed the participants about the work carried out by the commission.
Deputy Mayor of Metropolitan Mehmet Palabıyık and Rector of MCBÜ Prof. Dr. Ahmet ATAÇ also made a speech and mentioned the importance of the Mesir Paste Festival for Manisa and our country.
Governor Karadeniz, in his speech, stated that the Mesir Paste Festival is an important and long-standing ancient healing tradition in Manisa and our country, and that there is no such a deep-rooted healing tradition in the world that has turned into a festival, and it is an important responsibility to continue this long-term tradition of compassion, healing and togetherness. stressed that.
Stating that the Mesir Macunu Festival has become one of the common cultural heritages of humanity by moving to an international dimension with the inclusion of the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in the Representative List in 2012, Governor Karadeniz said, “This precious title given by UNESCO contributed to the wider recognition, strengthening and enthusiasm of the festival. . I would like to take this opportunity to thank those who carried out studies, contributed and contributed to the UNESCO process. We will continue to preserve this precious value in the best way, to pass it on to future generations and to introduce it to the whole world, together with our country. We will hold our festival, which was suspended due to the pandemic in the past years, with more enthusiasm and wider participation next year.”
The meeting ended with the presentation of the Intangible Cultural Heritage studies of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, General Directorate of Research and Education and the UNESCO Turkish National Commission, and the opinions and suggestions of the participants.
