TCDD Taşımacılık AŞ and EUROFIMA (European Company for the Financing of Railway Vehicles) officials met with an online meeting on April 7, 2022. During the meeting, information about the ongoing activities of EUROFIMA was exchanged, and possible cooperation opportunities with TCDD Transportation General Directorate were discussed. The delegation headed by TCDD Transportation General Manager Hasan Pezük and senior officials from TÜRASAŞ and EUROFIMA attended the meeting, which concerns more than 1.500 vehicles in the vehicle fleet of TCDD Taşımacılık AŞ.

Harry Müller, CEO of EUROFIMA, in a short presentation about EUROFIMA, whose mission is to finance rolling stock vehicles to support the development of rail passenger transport within the scope of public service obligation throughout Europe, and of which TCDD Taşımacılık AŞ is also a stakeholder, said: Since our founding in 1956, we have been funding rolling stock with a non-profit mission to support the development of mass passenger rail transport across Europe. For the developing and transforming world, our priority is to promote sustainability. In line with this goal, we see that the key to solving the problem of carbon emissions attributable to the transport sector is to support the growth and development of the passenger side in rail transport. As a stakeholder of our TCDD Transportation General Directorate, it shows us its respectful stance to the environment and nature by increasing its business activities in electric lines.” CEO Harry Müller also concluded by talking about the establishment of the company, its field of activity and the examples of financing they have provided to railway operators across Europe.
Over 650 thousand passengers are transported every day across Turkey by rail.
After CEO Müller's speech, TCDD Transportation General Manager Hasan Pezük said: “TCDD Tasimacilik serves more than 650 thousand passengers every day in passenger transportation with main line, regional train, high-speed train and suburban trains that support urban transportation. The towing and towed vehicle fleet, which has an extremely important and priority place in the railway organization; operation, maintenance, repair and revision are the responsibility of our General Directorate. Investments and supports made in these instruments are the priority needs of our Institution. For this reason, I would like to express my satisfaction to be here and to take steps for the future on behalf of our Institution.” said. General Manager Pezük completed his speech by giving a short briefing speech on the fields of activity of TCDD Tasimacilik, its vehicle park, and the needs of towed vehicles.
The meeting ended with the exchange of views on the cooperation to be reached with EUROFIMA in terms of financing for the rolling stock needs of TCDD Taşımacılık AŞ, which are planned to be increased in line with the expanding railway network in Turkey.
