Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu made the sahur with the workers working in Marport. Making evaluations about the Turkish economy of exports, Karaismailoğlu said, “Our ports are indispensable here. At the Ambarlı Port Complex we are in, you are responsible for 25 percent of the container transportation in Turkey. That's why you are so precious."

Turkey's largest private container port, Marport, recently hosted the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu. Karaismailoğlu, who came together with Marport workers in Sahur, shared both the developments in the transportation sector and their expectations for the upcoming period.

“Your Contribution Will Be More In The Years To Come”

Karaismailoğlu, who made investigations at the port, said, “You are working for the infrastructure of Turkey, which will be a global power in the logistics sector and will guide global and logistics movements. We are grateful to all of you for this.” Pointing out that nearly 12 percent of the world trade volume of 90 billion tons is made by sea, Minister Karaismailoğlu said, “Our ports are indispensable here. At the Ambarlı Port Complex we are in, you are responsible for 25 percent of the container transportation in Turkey. That's why you are so precious. Hopefully, in the coming years, the capacity of this place will be increased and its contribution to exports will be more," he said.

Target in Export is 250 Billion Dollars

Karaismailoğlu said, “Thanks to you in our ports, we broke records last year and increased our exports to 225 billion dollars. Our target this year is 250 billion dollars. In the coming years, this figure will increase to 500 billion dollars. These are the major transport infrastructure moves we are making. There are no obstacles in front of us anymore. In the coming years, we will be among the 10 largest developed economies of the world and we will be a global superpower that directs logistics movements in the world.

Marport makes a significant contribution to Turkish foreign trade by managing 20 percent of the freight traffic in the Marmara Region and 12 percent of Turkey's. 2021 TEUs were handled at Marport in 1.503.254. In 2022, it is aimed to handle 10 TEU with an increase of approximately 1.644.000 percent.
