In Marathon Izmir, which will be run for a "sustainable world" in line with the "Global Goals" determined by the United Nations (UN), the plastic bottles to be given to the runners will be collected in waste bins and recycled and will form the main material of the race t-shirts to be used next year. Medals will also be made of recycled material.
Materials in the event area can also be recycled
All materials in the event area of Marathon İzmir, which was named the “Fastest Marathon Run in Turkey” and entered the list of the world's fastest marathons in World Athletics from the 20th place, will also be recyclable. Even the kits to be distributed to the athletes will be delivered in bags made from recycled materials. All advertisements and directions for the sponsors and the race on the track will be collected one by one at the end of the race and recycled.

Our goal is to make Marathon İzmir a waste-free marathon and to lead the United Nations in a strong way,” he said.

The third of the Marathon Izmir will be run on Sunday, April 17. Athletes and sports fans from all over Turkey will be hosted in Kültürpark, which is designated as the event space for Marathon İzmir, between 14-17 April, accompanied by concerts, events and talks. During the series of events, sports fans will also be able to experience the sports branches they want at Kültürpark. The start of the Marathon İzmir will be given at 08.00:42 in front of the former İZFAŞ General Directorate building on Şair Eşref Boulevard. Athletes in the XNUMX-kilometer Marathon İzmir, via Alsancak Karşıyakaand will return before arriving at Bostanlı Pier. Athletes, who will arrive in İnciraltı on the same track this time via Mustafa Kemal Sahil Boulevard, will return from Marina İzmir and complete the race at the starting point.
There is also a 10-kilometer public run.
Within the scope of Marathon İzmir, a 10-kilometer public run will also be organized. The start of this race will be given at 07.20 on the same day and from the same point. In the 10-kilometer race, the athletes will return from the Köprü Tram stop on Mustafa Kemal Sahil Boulevard and complete the race on the opposite lane of the old İZFAŞ building of Fuar Kültürpark.
