Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO) Chairman of the Board Gürsel Baran stated that the battery production facility investment that Koç Holding plans to establish in Ankara will make significant contributions to the economy of the capital and the country, and said, "The economy of the capital continues to grow on solid foundations with investment, trade and tourism." .

ATO President Baran evaluated the battery production facility investment that Koç Holding will establish in Ankara, together with Ford Motor and South Korean battery manufacturer SK On, by making a written statement.

Stating that Ankara has made great strides in industry and trade in the last 15 years, Baran pointed out that investments in industrial production based on high technology have increased in the Baskent, especially in recent years. Noting that the battery production facility that Koç Holding plans to establish will make significant contributions to the economy and employment of the Capital, Baran said, "This investment of Koç Holding in battery production is very valuable for both our country and our Capital, in this process where the transformation to electric vehicles in automotive accelerates. One in three cars sold in Europe consists of electric models. It is an investment that will increase our capital's exports, employment and global competitiveness of our country," he said.

Stating that the pandemic and the subsequent Russian-Ukrainian War have revealed the importance of being economically self-sufficient, Baran said that Turkey has differentiated itself positively from other countries with the determined and foresighted management of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in this process. Stating that Turkey is advantageous with its investments, dynamic production capability and young population, Baran said, “The developments in recent years have shown that Turkey can be positioned as the production, supply and logistics center of the world. In this process, we can become the base of the world with industrial investments based on high technology, especially in the defense and medical industry.” said.

Baran thanked the Koç Group, which has made significant contributions to Ankara's economic and social life, for this new investment they will bring to Başkent.
