“May this journey carry important clues for all humanity”

Emphasizing that the international community is rapidly evolving towards a “world society” with the effect of the pandemic and climate crisis, President Soyer continued his words as follows: “This global change process undoubtedly imposes new tasks on cities. Cities need to produce fast and innovative solutions in the face of processes such as wars, migrations, climate crisis and deep poverty. This further increases the value and importance of cities for securing the future of our planet. Moreover, cities are now forming cross-border relations and international networks. The understanding of growth through larger borders or wars is replaced by a world of cities based on a common future, cooperation and sharing. Welfare, justice and harmony with nature are the different pillars of this universal change. Many cities are developing pioneering projects in these three areas. For example, we started to implement the Cittaslow Metropol project, which is fed by circular culture and circular economy in İzmir. All of the works we carry out for İzmir are parts of this brand new understanding of urbanism. I wholeheartedly believe that the Professional Sustainability Envoys Program, which brings us together today, will produce invaluable results in achieving this goal. With these feelings, the co-director of PROSEP EGİAD, the Business World Platform for Goals and my colleagues in the Izmir Sustainability Urban Development Network. I hope that this journey will carry important clues not only for Izmir but also for our entire country and humanity, and let's continue this development together.”

We also met with our Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Izmir Sustainable Urban Development Network, on common values. PROSEP is exactly a program designed to spread this belief and change the mentality in the business world.
