Izmir Metropolitan Municipality teams started to distribute hot meals to citizens in need by going door to door during iftar hours. Iftar dinner service was also put into service in Izmir Solidarity Points, parks, university circles and metro stations. Izmir residents can also join the solidarity by purchasing an iftar package from the People's Grocery. The purchased packages are delivered to those in need by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. The Metropolitan Municipality aims to distribute iftar meals for a total of 600 thousand people during Ramadan.
Cash support to 70 thousand citizens during Ramadan Feast
Volkan Sert, Social Services Branch Manager of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Social Services Department, said, “As Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, we will deliver iftar meals for 2022 thousand people in all points of our city, in approximately 350 neighborhoods, in the iftar program in 200. We will distribute fast-breaking meals to approximately 9 thousand people at 4 We İzmir Solidarity Points and 300 mobile distribution points that we have opened in the neighborhoods. Volkan Sert said that with the Eid al-Fitr, cash aid will be provided to 70 citizens and said, "We will ensure that the donations of iftar meals made by our fellow citizens of Izmir through the People's Grocery are delivered to the citizens in need."
