Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Karaismailoğlu announced that they have made 37,5 percent progress on the 98-kilometer Gayrettepe-Istanbul Airport metro line.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu made examinations at the Istanbul Airport Metro Control Center. Minister Karaismailoğlu was accompanied by the Republic of Turkey State Railways (TCDD) General Manager Metin Akbaş, Infrastructure Investments General Manager Yalçın Eyigün, TCDD Taşımacılık AŞ General Manager Hasan Pezük and related bureaucrats.

Karaismailoglu; After giant projects such as Marmaray, Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, Osmangazi Bridge, Eurasia Tunnel and Istanbul Airport, they opened the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge and brought a unique work to Turkey. He stated that it will raise it among the largest in the world in investment, production, exports and employment. Karaismailoğlu stated that Marmaray, which opened in 2013, has carried more than 600 million passengers so far, and that 81 million vehicles have passed through the Eurasia Tunnel, and that they are working to prepare Istanbul completely for the future.

Adil Karaismailoğlu stated that 12 kilometers of the 811,5 kilometer urban rail system line serving in 312,2 cities across Turkey was made by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, and that there is a 185 kilometer rail system line under construction. Expressing that they work day and night on the 7-kilometer urban rail system, which is under construction in 103,3 separate lines in Istanbul, Karaismailoğlu gave information about these projects.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Karaismailoğlu stated that they have made 37,5 percent progress on the 98-kilometer Gayrettepe-Istanbul Airport metro line. HalkalıHe also stated that 87 percent of the Istanbul Airport line has been completed.

Referring to the ongoing signaling tests and certification process, Karaismailoğlu said, “After this process, we aim to open the section between Kağıthane-Eyüp-Istanbul Airport to the service of our people within 4 months, and the Gayrettepe-Kağıthane section until the end of the year.”

Karaismailoğlu stated that with the opening of the line, Istanbul Airport can be reached in 24 minutes from Kağıthane, 12 minutes from Göktürk, 45 minutes from Esenler, 41 minutes from Taksim, 33 minutes from Zincirlikuyu, and 4 minutes from 35. Levent.

Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that they determined the locality rate in airport metro vehicles as 60 percent, that metro trains with domestic engines will be used for the first time in this project, that train signaling and interface works will be implemented with domestic facilities, and that they will have domestic electrical systems and batteries for the first time.

Karaismailoğlu, who stated that they will also experience the firsts in the signaling systems, said, “We are using the signaling systems developed with domestic facilities for the first time in our airport metro lines. Software, hardware tests and assemblies have been completed in the field related to signaling. We have reached the final stage in communication, testing and security controls between the control center and the trains.” he said.

Karaismailoğlu said that while they are designing the future from today, they continue to work to bring a scientific-based, environmentally friendly, sustainable transportation infrastructure to Turkey with a focus on logistics, mobility and digitalization. Minister Karaismailoğlu added that they will share with the public the Transport and Logistics Master Plan-Transportation 2053 Vision, which covers sector planning, strategies and the future of transportation, at Atatürk Cultural Center tomorrow.
