The first bluefin tuna of the year was sold for a record price in the city of Pintung, located in southeast Taiwan. On the opening day of the season, captain Chen Chin-Ping caught a bluefin tuna with a length of 208 centimeters and a weight of 210,6 kilograms, for a price of 2 million 121 thousand NTD (1 million 87 thousand TL). This is the most expensive tuna ever sold in Taiwan.

Hsiao Shou-fa, the owner of Jiazhen Seafood Restaurant, which paid the highest price, said that he started his career by fishing at the age of 13 and he knows all the difficulties of this business. Stating that the high offer he gave was his respect for the fishermen and a kind of love, Hsiao said that he would take the fish to his restaurant and present it to his customers.

Customers who want to taste the tuna, which is sold at a record price, will have to pay at least 7 thousand 2 liras for a 500-piece portion. For just a small slice, they will have to sacrifice 200 liras.
