Gaziantep Metropolitan Electric Scooter Published Rules of Use

Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Coordination Center (UKOME) determined the rules and additional rules that electric scooter users must comply with as per the regulation.

In the statement stating that 800 e-scooters serve throughout the city, the Ministries of Transport and Infrastructure, Environment and Urbanization and the Interior, with the Electric Scooter Regulation published on April 14, 2021, published the conditions for users and businesses and allowed the use of electric scooters in cities.

The Metropolitan Municipality took some additional decisions regarding the transportation vehicle, which is becoming more and more popular day by day within the framework of the determined regulation. The rules determined by the regulations made by the ministries for electric scooters and additional decisions taken by UKOME were as follows:

• The maximum speed limit for the e-scooter is 18 kilometers per hour in all unrestricted corridors.
• It is forbidden to drive on highways, intercity highways and highways with a maximum speed limit of more than 50 kilometers per hour.
• If there is a separate bicycle lane or bicycle lane, it is prohibited to drive on the vehicle road.
• It is forbidden to get on the e-scooter by 2 people and to carry loads.
• Shared electric scooter usage permission is not given to those who have not completed the age of 15.
• Scooters cannot be used in pedestrianized areas and in areas closed to vehicle traffic for a while.
• It is not allowed to park on electricity poles, signal poles, trees or similar superstructures at intersections and superstructures in historical and touristic corridors.
• Parking is not allowed on sidewalks, bus stops, signposts and medians less than 2 and a half meters wide.
• It is forbidden to use law enforcement service buildings or lodgings, municipalities and governorate buildings as waiting places and stops with a diameter of 300 meters.
• In the courtyard of the mosque, in the shopping mall, training centers, hospital gardens, parks and green areas, etc. e-scooters cannot be used in places.
• The use of e-scooters below zero degrees is prohibited.
• E-scooter users are controlled by inspection units. Users whose violations are detected within the framework of the controls will be penalized by the relevant control units.
• Meetings, demonstrations, social events, marches, etc. allowed by the governorship. It is forbidden to enter and park scooters on the streets and streets specified in such cases.
• Road vehicle drivers also need to obey the rules, knowing that there are now e-scooters in traffic.
