Sports clubs and athletes within the body of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality are running from success to success. In the European Wrestling Championship held in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, Taha Akgül from ASKİ became the champion for the 9th time, Süleyman Atlı was the second in Europe, Münir Recep Aktaş was the third in Europe, and FOMGET athlete Evin Demirhan Yavuz became the champion in the women's category. National wrestlers, who were greeted with enthusiasm at Esenboğa Airport, greeted the Capitalists with their open-air buses.

Sports clubs within the body of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality cannot get enough of success.

The ASKİ Sports Club, which has produced European and world champions, finally returned with medals from the European Wrestling Championship held in Budapest, the capital of Hungary.

ASKİ Sporlu National wrestler Taha Akgül became the 9th European champion, Süleyman Atlı was the second in Europe, Münir Recep Aktaş was the third in Europe, and FOMGET athlete Evin Demirhan Yavuz became the champion in the Women's European Wrestling Championship.

National wrestlers; At Esenboğa Airport, ABB Deputy Secretary General Baki Kerimoğlu, ASKİ Sports Club President Yüksel Aslan, Head of Youth and Sports Services Department Mustafa Artunç, Club managers, coaches, children in the 300 children project and their colleagues were greeted with Turkish flags and confetti.

Stating that they are proud of the athletes in the enthusiastic welcome, ABB Deputy Secretary General Baki Kerimoğlu said, “We are very proud and happy. As Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, we support both professional and amateur athletes with the support of Mansur Yavaş. They make us proud. We will continue to support. I congratulate everyone”, while the President of ASKİ Sports Club Yüksel Aslan expressed his thoughts, “Ankara Metropolitan Municipality invests heavily in sports. We also get the results. Taha is breaking new ground, so we always welcome it like this. I hope Rıza will also get the gold medal tomorrow," he said.

THEY ANNOUNCED THE NAME OF TURKEY AND ASKI SPORT TO EUROPE AND THE WORLD

Representing Turkey in the 125 kg freestyle European Wrestling Championship, Taha Akgül won the 5th European Championship in her career by defeating her Georgian rival Geno Petriashvili 2-9 in the final.

Having won 8 European, 2 World and 1 Olympic Championships in Freestyle Wrestling, Taha Akgül became the wrestler who has won the most European Championships in freestyle with the championship he won in Hungary.

Thanking Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş for his support to sports and athletes, ASKİ Sports National wrestlers and coaches expressed their happiness with the following words:

Fırat Binici (Free Team Technical Manager): “ASKİ Spor represented our country in the best way in this championship as well. We have six medals in freestyle wrestling. We will continue to represent our country successfully as long as we have the support of our President Mansur and our club president.”

Taha Akgul: “Those who love us have come here. First of all, this program took place under the organization of our Metropolitan Mayor. Our assistant general secretary and Mr. Yüksel Aslan are also here. I won the European Championship for the 9th time. It's easy to say, we really struggled, we came to this process by doing intense training. I've had nine gold medals out of nine. We are the biggest and most successful club in Turkey. Our young brothers came to greet us, I can see that excitement in their eyes.”

Suleiman Atli: “I have been making the final in the European Championship for 4 years. We came second in Europe as a team. Everyone did their best. I have the world championship ahead of me this year. I want to correct my mistakes and get my medal ready.”

Munir Recep Aktas: “I am really happy. I am happy to make my club and my country feel this proud. This is my first medal at the European Championships. We have the Mediterranean games and the world championship ahead of us, I will try to get the gold medal."

Evin Demirhan Yavuz: “We made a great history as a team. We had great struggles. We became European champions in this fight. I am an athlete who has previously won the European Championship in the stars category. I have 7 medals. I became the most medal-winning female athlete among women. I would like to thank our President Mansur because he took care of the female athlete, we showed ourselves as women all over Europe.”

After the welcome at Esenboğa Airport, the national wrestlers traveling by the open-air bus belonging to the Metropolitan Municipality greeted the citizens of the Capital.
