Congratulatory Visit from İmamoğlu to Uğur Dündar

IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlupaid a congratulatory visit to the veteran journalist Uğur Dündar, who was elected as the Chairman of the Fenerbahçe Sports Club High Council Board. If we think, "What is the biggest problem in Turkey today"; I think the feelings of separation and polarization are very high,” said İmamoğlu, adding, “On the contrary, we can use this area very strongly as a medium that embraces and brings together this division in the political arena. Fenerbahce, Galatasaray and Beşiktaş will be the strongest representatives of this in Istanbul," he said. At the end of the visit at Fenerbahçe Ülker Stadium, Dündar presented İmamoğlu a Fenerbahçe jersey with the back number "61".

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) President Ekrem İmamoğlupaid a congratulatory visit to the doyen journalist Uğur Dündar, who was elected as the Chairman of the Fenerbahçe Sports Club High Council in the election held on April 10. During the visit to Fenerbahçe Ülker Stadium Şükrü Saracoğlu Sports Complex, İmamoğlu Kadıköy Mayor Şerdil Dara Odabaşı, İBB Secretary General Can Akın Çağlar and İBB SözcüHe was accompanied by Murat Ongun. Conveying his congratulations to Dündar, İmamoğlu said, “First; already together on a different platform and nice sohbetYou are our precious elder who is already in our world, our light, our light on processes. Our election as the Chairman of the Board of Fenerbahçe, one of the three important communities of Istanbul, opened a separate page of sincerity for us. So we wish you success. Of course, in a very noble institution, a noble task. May your way be clear,” he said.

DÜNDAR: “SPORTS; FRIENDSHIP, PEACE AND LOVE”

Reminding that Fenerbahçe is a very important institution that has its roots in the Kuvâ-yi Milliye, Dündar said to İmamoğlu, “It is a very valuable non-governmental organization that has become synonymous with the Republic. A community of about 25-30 million. Here, we are trying our best to provide the unity and integrity that Turkey needs. As a person who has always believed that sports is a message of friendship, peace and love, we will try to fulfill this mission together with our delegation.”

İMAMOĞLU: “LET'S GENERALLY BRING SPORTS, ART AND CULTURE TO PEOPLE”

Saying that "Sports has a very serious healing and unifying power," İmamoğlu said:

“I also know that it can reach very useful areas in the society. I say this as a person who has also come from sports. Sometimes, when we talk to our friends in our field of duty, we say, let's bring sports, art and culture to people on the field very generously. Because there is an incredible need. It brings together the layers of the society, which we never expected, and creates incredible togetherness there. If we think, 'What is the biggest problem in Turkey today'; I guess the feelings of separation and polarization are very high. On the contrary, we can use this field very strongly as a medium that embraces and brings together this division in the political field. Fenerbahce, Galatasaray and Beşiktaş are the strongest representatives of this in Istanbul, and their symbols for us. Of course, we have very distinguished historical clubs and institutions in Istanbul. But these 3 big clubs are in a different situation. In this context, we would like to express that we are ready for all kinds of corporate cooperation, as with our other clubs. People need it too. We can achieve a completely different integration in this field, in the face of some realities in our country that have already put the polarization position in front of us in other media.”

CALL FOR “ATTENTIVE LANGUAGE” FROM DÜNDAR

Speaking after İmamoğlu, Dündar said, “In these times of economic crisis, when economic difficulties intensify, one of the most important branches that people can hold on to in life is the success of the football team they support. Therefore, it is necessary to use language very carefully here. I was also a manager in the club during the 2001 crisis. We became champions that year. And we used really attentive language. We have expressed to everyone not to offend the managers, players and supporters of our rivals, and not to separate, but to the contrary, the rhetoric that can provide unity and integration. Turkey still needs this in this period. And one of the most important forces that will meet this need is sports, a sports platform, a platform of friendship and brotherhood.”

İMAMOĞLU: “AS IBB, WE ARE OPEN TO COOPERATION”

İmamoğlu added to Dundar's words, "In our past experiences, in which we have formed a very common language union, in that language union we formed with you, in this sense, we, as IMM, are open to all kinds of dialogue, cooperation, open to projects... Maybe even Council Presidents of other clubs. You get together, you get together. We have very respectable club presidents who stand in the way of action and action; it is different. Since the Main Board of Directors is a committee that looks at the event from a slightly different perspective and looks from a different institutional perspective, maybe we can form a very interesting advisory board in cooperation with us, with such a coming together, with a completely different perspective.” İmamoğlu said, “We are now a group of wise people who have a certain life experience, can make some assessments in a healthy way, and can be considered almost like the senate of our communities. A great responsibility falls on us. We are aware of this responsibility, and we will do what is necessary to the end," said Dundar, and replied, "We will happily come to the table in that cooperation and contribute in every way on behalf of the people of Istanbul."

After the speeches, Dündar gifted İmamoğlu a Fenerbahçe jersey with the back number "61". İmamoğlu also conveyed a selection of books published by İBB Publishing to Dündar.
