Every birth is unique, unique and special

Noting that the birth process is perhaps one of the most important events that a woman experiences during her reproductive age, Dr. Faculty Member Tuğba Yılmaz Esencan said, “Birth is a part of a natural process that takes place throughout a woman's life. Pregnancy and subsequent labor is a journey that takes place mostly in the physiological flow. Each birth is a new beginning. It should not be forgotten that just as every woman is unique and unique, her birth is a unique, unique and special event. Even a woman's 2nd and 3rd births may be different. For these reasons, labor is a unique experience.” she said.

Dr. Esencan, stating that normal birth is a normal situation, said that it can be defined as "providing the contact with the air by removing the live baby and its appendages from the vaginal route with the help of natural forces without intervention". Esencan also said that naming "vaginal birth" instead of "normal birth" when defining birth is a more correct approach.

They provide education starting from pre-pregnancy

Emphasizing the importance of the midwifery profession in the spread of normal birth, Dr. Faculty Member Tuğba Yılmaz Esencan said, “Midwifery; It is a very comprehensive professional group that provides consultancy on pre-marital, pre-pregnancy, pregnancy and postpartum issues. Midwives are health professionals who are equipped to carry out every stage of these services. The primary duties of midwives include pre-pregnancy and prenatal counseling, necessary examinations and their planning, as well as the execution of services.” said.

They help couples make the right decision

Emphasizing the importance of the midwifery profession in the spread of normal birth, Dr. Faculty Member Tuğba Yılmaz Esencan said, “Midwives should provide the necessary training and consultancy services by prioritizing the needs suitable for the knowledge level of the couples within the scope of the widespread use of normal birth. While planning and implementing appropriate trainings for couples, midwives should help couples make the right decision in the light of these trainings.” said.

Follow-up is important during pregnancy

Noting that the pregnancy process is a unique period for every woman, and emphasizing the importance of the midwifery profession in the spread of normal birth, Dr. Faculty Member Tuğba Yılmaz Esencan said, “Many physical, emotional and psychological changes with pregnancy primarily affect women's lives. Many physiological, anatomical and psychological changes occur in the female body with the pregnancy that occurs with the realization of fertilization. These changes, which continue throughout the pregnancy period, are a process that requires close follow-up in terms of health follow-up of the mother and the baby and continues until the beginning of the birth. The care provided by midwives within the scope of protecting and improving the health of mother and baby during pregnancy also has a great impact on the way of delivery. he said.

The conscious birth opportunity should be offered…

Noting that the planning and implementation of prenatal trainings were made widespread, expectant mothers were informed about the birth process by midwives. Lecturer Tuğba Yılmaz Esencan said, “Thus, midwives offer the opportunity of conscious birth to women by directing pregnant women to trainings. The goal in birth preparation education; It is to ensure that couples and especially expectant mothers get accurate information about the birth and postpartum period. These trainings will help couples make the right decisions during their pregnancy and birth journey.” said.

Midwives have important duties to encourage normal birth.

Noting that midwives can encourage all women in the antenatal period for normal vaginal delivery with the training they provide, Dr. Esencan said, “The care and consultancy services provided by midwives who are experts in the field of normal vaginal delivery before and during the pregnancy process will facilitate the decision-making process of couples on the choice of delivery method. For this reason, midwives have important duties to reduce the rates of cesarean section and to encourage normal vaginal delivery.” said.

Preparatory training should be given to reduce the fear of childbirth…

Dr. Faculty Member Tuğba Yılmaz Esencan said, “According to the current literature, it is seen that the education of the pregnant women about the cesarean delivery method and the fear of birth of the pregnant women are significantly effective in the choice of delivery methods. For this reason, birth preparation training should be given to pregnant women by midwives in order to reduce their fear of birth. Pregnant women and their spouses should be supported to participate in these courses.” said.

It should be emphasized that cesarean delivery should be performed in risky situations.

Emphasizing that the midwife should adequately inform the pregnant woman for both types of delivery and offer all options, Dr. Faculty Member Tuğba Yılmaz Esencan concluded her words as follows:

“The midwife should not be a guide in the decision of the pregnant woman and should support the pregnant woman regardless of her decision. In the training to be given, the level of knowledge of the pregnant woman and her husband about the birth patterns should be taken into account, and an education plan should be created in this direction by determining the incomplete or erroneous situations of the information they have. The advantages and disadvantages of both types of delivery should be discussed, and it should be emphasized that cesarean delivery is an operation that should be performed within a risky situation.
