Pointing out that they have declared a 'mobilization', so to speak, for the revival of the railways, which had been abandoned for years, and to carry the policy of "weaving the homeland with iron nets" further, Minister of Transport, Karaismailoğlu, said, "In this context, the positive effects are on reforms that will reflect not only on our country but also on the world. we signed. We increased the signaled railway line length, which was 2 thousand 505 kilometers, by a record 183 percent, to 7 thousand 94 kilometers. We have increased our electric railway line length, which is 2 thousand 82 kilometers, by 188%, to 5 thousand 986 kilometers. We have increased our conventional line length to 11 thousand 590 kilometers. We built 1.213 kilometers of YHT line and 219 kilometers of high-speed train lines. We proudly carried our Turkey to the position of 8th in the world and 6th in Europe as the YHT operator country. By putting the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway line into service, we provided an uninterrupted railway connection from Asia to Europe. We increased the length of the railway line, which was 2003 thousand 10 kilometers in 959, to 13 thousand 22 kilometers. We will carry this figure to 2053 thousand 28 kilometers in 590,” he said.
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu, who said, “We transfer the load on the highways to the railways”, expressed that they are aware of the importance of transferring the share of passenger and freight transport on the highways to other transportation modes in order to make the most effective use of Turkey's potential and geographical superiority. Pointing out that they gave a special place to the railways in the Transport and Logistics Master Plan, Karaismailoğlu continued his speech as follows:
“By increasing the share of railways in our country's transportation network in terms of passenger and freight transportation, we will increase the share of railways in passenger transportation from 1 percent to 6,20 percent, which is above the European average. This means that the number of our passengers, which is 19,5 million today, has reached approximately 270 million. We will also make significant contributions to reducing the share of roadways in passenger and freight transportation and reducing carbon emissions from transportation. In 2023, among all transportation modes, the rate of freight transportation, which is expected to be 2023 million tons and 55 percent in 5,08, will be increased by 7 times and 440 million freight will be transported by rail, and we will increase it to 18 percent, exceeding the European average of 21,93 percent. . According to our Transportation and Logistics Master Plan; By 2053, we expect to complete 6 kilometers of railway line, including 196 kilometers of high-speed train lines, 1.474 kilometers of conventional lines, 622 high-speed train lines and 262 kilometers of very high-speed train lines. In addition to the existing high-speed train lines, 8 kilometers of the 554-kilometer high-speed train line to be completed by 2053 will be completed next year. High-speed train lines, which is one of the steps taken to increase the share of railways in passenger and freight transportation in our country, will become significantly widespread until 622, and the number of provinces connected by high-speed trains will increase from 546 to 2053.
