A child-oriented system, which supports children's ability to express their thoughts clearly, produce solutions, and actively participate in decision-making mechanisms, to develop participatory democracy, and to protect children's rights, and where children participate directly in the administration, was also opened in the Children's Municipality Tire. Inauguration of the Children's Municipality, implemented jointly by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and Tire Municipality, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer and Tire Mayor Salih Atakan Duran.
Other districts also took the project as an example.
The children's Municipality opening program was hosted by Fatih Secondary School students Abdullah Yağız Güreşen and Ecem Betül Kara, 13 years old. “Whatever we do, we actually do it for our children”
Stating that they share every corner of the city, streets, avenues, houses and parks, in short, everything that makes a city a city, with children, Mayor Soyer said, “Moreover, whatever we do in this life… Our projects and all our plans. We actually do it for our children. Whatever our mission is. The words that come out of our mouths, every decision we make, touches the lives of our children more than we do. It determines their future,” he said.

Based on this thought, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor reminded that he decided to establish a Children's Municipality while he was running as the Seferihisar Municipality Mayor. Tunç Soyer, said: “Because children had to have a say in describing their own future. Thus, Turkey's first Children's Municipality was born in Seferihisar. The Children's Municipality we established gave me the following opportunity as a mayor: It made it possible for me to see the world through the eyes of children. Will a park be built? Or a school, a marketplace? Of course, the opinions of experts and decision makers are important. But seeing a facility through the eyes of the children who will use it is as valuable as the technical aspects of the issue. Because that park, that school, that living space belong to the children.”
Children's Municipality spreads throughout the city
Mayor Soyer stated that they found the key to take action not only for children but also together with children in Seferihisar Children's Municipality and said, “Today we are carrying this key to Tire, the ancient district of İzmir. Today, we are proud to open Tire Children's Municipality together with Tire Municipality. In another part of İzmir, in Gürçeşme, the construction of the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Children's Municipality campus continues. Our contribution to our children's municipality, which we are proud of supporting Tire Municipality for the renovation of the building and the construction of its garden, will continue from now on. We will be with our Tire Municipality in the organizations, training activities and all other works here.” Soyer thanked Salih Atakan Duran, who adopted the vision of the Children's Municipality and brought it to Tire.
