Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer made statements regarding the completion program of vocational training centers. Özer said that the centers provide high school and university graduates with the opportunity to re-plan their careers with short-term training.

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer shared information about the vocational training center programs they started last month for high school and university graduates. Stating that young people replan their careers by completing the program in the field they want in a short time like 6-8 months, Minister Özer said that 81 thousand 64 young people from 149 provinces applied to the programs.

Expressing that they have taken very important steps towards the improvement of vocational training centers, Özer explained that they have created a flexible model for the graduates of this center to reach their high school diploma.

Reminding that with the amendment made in the Vocational Education Law No. 3308 on 25 December 2021, an important regulation was made regarding the students attending the vocational education center, Özer emphasized that a very attractive mechanism was created by removing the financial burden on the employer.

Stating that 4 percent of the minimum wage that the students who attended these centers received for 30 years was paid by the employer, and some of it was subsidized by the state, Özer stated that with the new regulation, the whole of the one-third wage was covered by the state, leaving no burden on the employer.

Stating that the amount paid to students who continue to these centers and become journeymen at the end of the third year with the new regulation, has been increased from 30 percent to 50 percent of the minimum wage, Özer said: While earning a monthly salary of approximately 1275 liras, they also have the right to be insured against work accidents and occupational diseases. It is important to be able to get paid while continuing education.” he said.

Noting that after the legal regulation, there was a very serious demand for the vocational training center from both employers and students, Özer said, "While the number of apprentices and journeymen in vocational training centers is around 160 thousand, the number of students in vocational training centers in Turkey is 3 percent within 160 months after the legal amendment. reached 417 thousand with an increase of XNUMX%. That's a terrific number.” gave the information.

Improvements are not made in a single city, but in a single city; Pointing out that it is realized in all fields where training is given in vocational training centers in 81 provinces, Özer said, “This number is very significant in terms of showing how many apprentices are actually needed in all sectors we provide training. It is also very important in terms of showing how naturally the process flows when you build a mechanism that is attractive to both parties.” said.

Noting that the Ministry aims to introduce 2022 million young people to vocational training centers in 1, and that they have reached 41 percent of this target before the end of the first three months of this year, Özer said, "This is a very important success and 'I cannot find the technical staff I am looking for.' rhetoric will gradually disappear from Turkey's agenda. Now we will be able to talk about very different things about vocational education.” made the emphasis.

There are also master's graduates who choose the vocational training center

Minister Özer reminded that they shared with the public the statement regarding the vocational training centers completion programs of high school and university graduates in February, and shared the following information about the first application numbers to the program:

“We have announced that we will implement a short-term vocational training center completion program of 4-6 months for our young people who have high school or higher education, while providing 8-year training in vocational training centers on the one hand. As of March, this process continued very actively. Our young people, who have 81 high school and higher education in 64 provinces across Turkey, applied to vocational training centers to benefit from the completion program and are actively continuing their education. 149 thousand 64 of 149 thousand 38 students are high school graduates and 861 thousand 13 are vocational high school graduates. For example, the student graduated from the electrical department, but started the completion program to get mastery in electronics. Thus, according to the urgent need demanded by the labor market, vocational high school graduates started to use this program actively to change their fields. A flexible model for skill transfer in the labor market was provided. Of the participants in the completion program, 148 have an associate degree from vocational school, 6 thousand 939 have a bachelor's degree and 5 have a master's degree. These data show how functional and profitable the program is for our society. Now, regardless of the education of our young people, there is a flexible model where they can shift their skills to different fields when they give up on a career planning related to that education. In other words, vocational training centers now provide a mechanism that can be used actively for all our high school, associate and undergraduate students. This is also very critical in terms of vocational training.”

They both plan a career and get paid and get insurance.

Pointing out that one of the biggest problems in vocational education is that vocational and technical Anatolian high schools graduate more than the labor market demands in some areas, Özer said that when they drew up the vocational education map of Turkey, they saw the problems related to this match and that the vocational education center completion program was a big deal in this regard. reported flexibility. Özer said, “This program will allow graduates to re-plan their skills and careers with short-term trainings according to the labor market.” said.

Minister of National Education Özer stated that 50 percent of the minimum wage is paid to those who participate in the completion training process and that insurance is provided against work accidents and occupational diseases, adding that he believes the new program will open very important doors.
