3 New Teams from AKUT

AKUT President Recep Şalcı: “Each region has different types of disasters due to its unique geographical structures and climatic characteristics. In order to form a search and rescue team in a region, you have to find people living in that region who are more or less specialized in that disaster. When you think that you are an NGO working on a completely voluntary basis like AKUT, it becomes clear how valuable each team is. Obviously, behind every AKUT team created, there is a great selection and care, a great effort.”

AKUT Search and Rescue Association, the first search and rescue non-governmental organization of our country, which has become one of the most important teams in the UN and EU's search and rescue organization since its establishment in 1996, with its newly formed Bitlis, Kahramanmaraş and İzmir-Selçuk teams; It continues to expand its organizational structure across Turkey. AKUT, with its 3 new teams, increased the number of teams across the country to 30.

AKUT President Recep Şalcı: “Behind every AKUT team created, there is a great special effort.”

Making a statement on the subject, AKUT President Recep Şalcı drew attention to the value and difficulty of forming a regional team for search and rescue and said: “Each region has different types of disasters due to its unique geographical structures and climate characteristics. In order to form a search and rescue team in a region, you have to find people living in that region who are more or less specialized in that disaster. When you think that you are an NGO working on a completely voluntary basis like AKUT, it becomes clear how valuable each team is. Also, as AKUT, we are very selective about opening a team in a region, there are many demands, but we are very sensitive about this issue as we will give our 'know-how', competence, power and equipment along with our name. Obviously, behind every AKUT team created, there is a great selection and care, a great effort. I would like to express my gratitude once again to all our volunteers in our newly formed teams and of course to all AKUT volunteers by the way. They welcome the AKUT family.”

It was emphasized that the location of the region and the presence of parachute specialists-trainers will enable the transportation of materials and trained personnel with special cargo parachutes from air to land. In addition, it was stated that the protocol agreement to be signed with Selçuk Efes Airport will enable both the provision of emergency air capability and the establishment of a logistics warehouse at the airport. It has been added that these features will save time for AKUT in domestic/international operations for security, material and personnel transportation.
