Contributing to the digitalization of Turkey's transportation investments, Türk Telekom has made the 1915-kilometer route covering the 101 Çanakkale Bridge and Malkara Çanakkale Highway 'smart' with new generation technologies as part of the Intelligent Transportation Systems (AUS) project.

In addition to its technologies that will ensure driving safety on the route, Türk Telekom has created the technological infrastructure of the Main Data and Disaster Recovery Centers in a way that will allow rapid, effective and coordinated response to natural disasters and accidents. In addition, some components of the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, which connects the European and Asian sides of the Çanakkale Strait, and the inspection control of the highway, the data collection (SCADA) infrastructure and the software of the traffic control system were carried out under the responsibility of Türk Telekom.

Türk Telekom, the leader of Turkey's digital transformation, continues to transform the opportunities provided by technology into services in every field. Türk Telekom equipped the 18 Çanakkale Bridge and Malkara Çanakkale Highway, inaugurated by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on March 1915, the anniversary of the Çanakkale Naval Victory, with smart technologies.

End-to-end digitization in transportation from Europe to Asia

Türk Telekom, the Intelligent Transportation Systems (AUS) project contractor of the highway, which created great excitement with its opening and is the most important link of the transit highway chain connecting Europe to Asia, equipped the 101-kilometer route with new generation technologies. Türk Telekom designed the technology infrastructure of the 2023 Çanakkale Bridge and Malkara-Çanakkale Highway Main Data and Disaster Recovery Centers, which are 'the world's largest suspension bridge with a middle span', as part of the Intelligent Transportation Systems (AUS) project. contributed to the project. Technological infrastructure of the Main Data and Disaster Recovery Centers against natural disasters and accidents; was created to allow for rapid, effective and coordinated intervention. End-to-end digitalization was achieved in transportation with message signs (VMS), variable traffic signs (VTS), meteorology stations and camera infrastructure along the 1915-kilometer route. In addition, an armored fiber optic cable facility was provided along the route by Türk Telekom access teams and a communication backbone was created where all systems can operate in an integrated manner.

“We make the four corners of Turkey smart with our national transportation network”

Türk Telekom CEO Ümit Önal said in his statement on the subject: “Under the leadership of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and our Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, very important projects that will leave a mark on history have been undertaken. With the bridges, tunnels, highways and divided roads built, Turkey has become one of the exemplary countries in the world in terms of highways. As Türk Telekom, we are proud of the technology we have provided for the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge and Motorway Project, which is an important link in highway integration in the west of Turkey and a work worthy of Çanakkale's glorious history. With our human-centered approach, we focus on using technology for good and benefit. In this context, we demonstrate our contribution with our Intelligent Transportation Systems (AUS) studies in strategic projects of Highways, especially Çanakkale Highway and Bridge. On the other hand, we are working to make our national transportation network smart all over Turkey, and we contribute to the implementation of transportation systems such as Smart Stop, Smart Parking, Smart Intersection, License Plate Recognition and EDS.”

Special control center for the spirit of Çanakkale

In the project, 1915 Çanakkale Bridge connects the Marmara Region and the North Aegean, while the Malkara-Çanakkale Highway provides uninterrupted access from Europe to the industrial areas in southwestern Turkey. Türk Telekom designed the architecture of the control center, where the supervision and management of the bridge and highway will be coordinated, with the concept of 'crescent and star' in line with the spirit of Çanakkale, and carried out implementation studies. The software of the central system SCADA infrastructure, which monitors all sites and provides control and data control, was also implemented under Türk Telekom's responsibility.

Smart software in payment systems

Lega-Payflex software of Türk Telekom's group company İnnova was used in the collection tracking part of toll collection systems (ÜTS), another important need of highway operators. All payment systems and bank integrations were built through this software. In addition to the fiber optic infrastructure located along the route to ensure uninterrupted fare collection, TTVPN infrastructure was established between toll booths, data centers and banks.
