With the snowfall, the occupancy rates in the dams reached their maximum levels. 100 percent levels were seen in Kazandere and Istrancalar, which are important water resources of Istanbul. With the complete melting of the snow; Ömerli, Büyükçekmece, Darlık, Pabuçdere, Elmalı and Alibeyköy dams are also expected to reach their highest levels.

With the recent snowfalls in Istanbul, there has been a record increase in the occupancy rates of the dams that supply water to the city. In Istanbul, where the city-wide dam occupancy rates are around 85 percent, the level of 100 percent has been reached in Kazandere and Istrancalar.

With the melting of the current snow, it is predicted that Ömerli, Büyükçekmece, Darlık, Pabuçdere, Elmalı and Alibeyköy dams will reach their maximum level in the coming days. In the same period last year, the occupancy rate was 62 percent.

DRIVES ARE CLEANED AGAINST FLOOD RISK

İSKİ, a subsidiary of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, continues to periodically clean all the streams of Istanbul against the risk of flooding. Solid wastes that may hinder the flow are disposed of from the stream beds.
