Mercedes-Benz also leads the sector in zero-emission transportation with the 12-meter electric city bus eCitaro Solo, whose research and development activities are carried out by the Mercedes-Benz Türk R&D Center.

With an original and striking design along with innovative battery and charging technology, the eCitaro Solo takes urban travel to the next level.

Continuing to carry its investments in smart and environmentally friendly transportation solutions to the roads with mass production vehicles, Mercedes-Benz also leads the sector in the field of zero emission travel with its electric city bus eCitaro Solo.

The all-electric eCitaro Solo, offering emission-free and relatively quiet driving; It has been serving in urban transportation since 2019 in various European cities such as Hamburg, Berlin, Mannheim and Heidelberg.

eCitaro Solo can be charged at stops

Equipped with innovative battery and charging technology, the eCitaro Solo gets its power from NMC or LMP battery technologies placed on the roof and rear of the vehicle. According to customer needs, one of these technologies can be selected according to the number of optional batteries.

There is a charging socket on the right front axle as standard to charge the batteries of the eCitaro Solo. However, according to the customer's request, filling sockets can be optionally offered on the left side or rear of the vehicle. Offering an alternative other than sockets for charging, the eCitaro Solo can also be charged with a special mechanism called "opportunity charging", which allows charging from the roof of the vehicle while waiting at stops.

Mercedes-Benz Türk's signature in eCitaro's R&D studies

Mercedes-Benz Türk R&D Center, which carries out the R&D studies of eCitaro, continues to carry out current updates and development activities.

The scope of eCitaro such as interior equipment, bodywork, exterior coatings, electrical infrastructure, diagnostic systems, road tests and hardware durability tests are carried out under the responsibility of Mercedes-Benz Türk Hoşdere Bus Factory R&D Center. The Hidropuls endurance test, which is considered the most advanced test in terms of bus production R&D in Turkey, allows a vehicle to be tested by simulating the road conditions it is exposed to for 1.000.000 km. Within the scope of road tests; As part of the long-distance test, long-term tests of all systems and equipment of the vehicle in terms of function and durability are carried out under different climatic and usage conditions.

The first prototype vehicle within the scope of eCitaro's road tests; It has been tested in all conditions that can be encountered in extreme climatic conditions and different driving scenarios in 2 different regions in Turkey (Istanbul, Erzurum, Izmir) for 10.000 hours (approximately 140.000 km) for 3 years.
