A digital education platform was established for hearing-impaired students. Announcing that the platform was opened at the address “orgm.meb.gov.tr/icdep”, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stated that there is a rich content on the platform, including books and animations with enriched and interactive sign language narration.
Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer made a statement to Anadolu Agency regarding the activities carried out for students with special educational needs.
Stating that as the Ministry of National Education, they are mobilizing all kinds of opportunities for special education students, Özer stated that on the one hand, inclusion and integration education are offered on the one hand, and on the other hand, they provide students with different programs according to their disability in special education kindergartens, practice schools and vocational schools.
Reminding that after solving the access problem, they focused on developing teaching materials for special education students in recent years, and in this context, the "Materials for Special Children Project" was carried out under the auspices of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's wife, Emine Erdoğan, and continued as follows:
“We have also patented more than 50 materials, and we have developed teaching materials for 146 different products, meeting the material needs of all our schools. In this context, we brought together more than 500 thousand materials with our schools and we plan to reach the 1 million target by the end of the year. Work on this issue is progressing on schedule. Hopefully, by the end of 2022, there will be no problems with the material needs of our students in our special education schools. All the materials needed in all our schools will be at the service of our students free of charge.”
Material production campaign for 5 different skill areas in special education
Minister Özer stated that recently, skill practice areas have been created in 5 special education practice schools for students in special education practice schools to develop their life skills in 1.007 different areas, from visual arts to music, from gardening to animal care, from sports to increasing physical activities.
Explaining that they started a serious campaign regarding the production of equipment materials for these skill areas, and they started to produce these equipment materials and send them to the provinces, Minister of National Education Özer said, “By the end of the year, we will gain 1 million new materials for skill areas in addition to 1 million materials in other special education schools. ” he said.

Reminding that they focused on digital platforms for special education students during the Kovid-19 epidemic process and that the digital education platform they branded with the name "I'm in Private Education" is also included as an exemplary practice by international organizations, Özer said, "The Ministry of National Education continues to increase its capacity with production materials and digital platforms. . The place where we show the most sensitivity in this field is special education.” said.

“We have launched a digital material production campaign for the first time for our hearing impaired students who are studying both in special education practice schools and in other schools. Digital materials were produced and made available by the Ministry of National Education General Directorate of Special Education and Guidance Services with the participation of all academics and experts. In this context, we launched the digital education platform 'orgm.meb.gov.tr/icdep', a digital education platform for hearing-impaired students. We have made available rich content digital materials, including enriched and interactive books, sign language books, animations, and supplementary resources on the platform. As the Ministry of National Education, we will now produce support education materials that facilitate the learning of our hearing-impaired students. On the platform, which aims to provide the fastest and easiest way to access information, rich content digital education materials for hearing impaired students were offered.”
What's on the new digital platform?
"Children of Private Streets" enriched storybook set prepared by the Ministry on the digital education platform opened for use on the internet address "orgm.meb.gov.tr/icdep" for hearing impaired students and their families, was made available interactively in the "Interactive Academy" section.
The helpful resource book “I'm Learning to Read and Write” for hearing-impaired students is interactively available on the platform.
Sign language supported animations
In addition, the Turkish sign language dictionary book and textbooks for the hearing impaired were made accessible from the library section. Z books and other books for the hearing impaired, animations supported by sign language, and Special Education Children's magazine with sign language expression took place on the platform.
The General Directorate of Special Education and Guidance Services plans to increase the content for the digital platform and present it to students.
