The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure renewed the record of Marmaray, the main backbone of Istanbul's transportation, by carrying 580 thousand 560 passengers in one day. The Ministry of Transport also drew attention to the fact that a total of 670 million passengers have traveled on Marmaray since the day it was opened.

In the written statement made by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure; “Marmaray, the project of the century, maintains its value in Turkey and in the world, with its ability to maintain Istanbul's urban life in a healthy way, to offer its residents a modern city life and modern transportation service. Gebze-halkalı from Gebze with the improvement of the suburban line and the railway Bosphorus tube pass. HalkalıMarmaray, which offers uninterrupted transportation to Istanbul, connects the Asian and European continents in just 4 minutes. With the completion of the second phase in March 2019, the mega city will breathe a sigh of relief with 76,6 kilometers and even 43 stations.

In the statement, Marmaray, which has the world's deepest immersed tube tunnel used by rail systems with a depth of 60,46 meters, is located in Gebze, Pendik, Bostancı, Söğütlüçeşme, Bakırköy and Halkalı to YHT and mainline trains at their stations; It was noted that stations with high passenger density such as Yenikapı, Sirkeci, Ayrılık Çeşmesi, Üsküdar and Söğütlüçeşme provide connections with metro, metrobus, city line ferries and trams.

51 PERCENT OF PASSENGERS MOVED FROM THE EUROPEAN SIDE

Reminding that the highest number of passengers carried in one day was reached in Marmaray, which was used by 5 thousand 2021 passengers on November 567, 169, it was announced that this record was renewed with 24 thousand 580 passengers on March 560. In the statement, it was emphasized that Marmaray, which makes 292 flights during the day, aims to transport 1 million passengers per day.

Underlining that 670 million passengers travel on Marmaray, operated by TCDD Tasimacilik A. These stations hosted 52 percent of the passengers carried. It was determined that 51 percent of the passengers departed from the European side and 49 percent from the Anatolian side.
