The "Istanbul International Publishing Week", which will be organized with the participation of the world's leading publishers and international publishing organizations, will be held on March 7-11.

In the week to be organized under the leadership of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, national and international stakeholder institutions, especially the Turkish Printing and Publishing Professional Association, the Press and Publishing Association, the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce and the Turkish Publishers Association, will take place.

At the press conference held at the Istanbul Atlas Cinema, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Ahmet Misbah Demircan said that Turkey has become one of the leading countries in the world in terms of the number of titles and market size published in the publishing industry in the last 15 years.

Pointing out that the number of works produced in 2021 is 87, Demircan said, “Thanks to the strong cooperation and dialogue ground created between our Ministry, our public institutions and the components of the publishing sector, important steps have been taken to strengthen the infrastructure of the sector, to solve structural problems, and many activities and projects have been carried out. . In this context, some financial support programs have also been implemented. Intense efforts are also made to start new ones to support our industry.” said.

Emphasizing that Turkey is one of the countries that made the fastest progress in the international broadcasting sector, Demircan said:

“Our basic vision is to make Istanbul a city where the future strategy of international broadcasting is formed in the coming years. As one of the most important steps, we are organizing the Istanbul International Publishing Week on March 7-11 with the participation of the world's leading publishers, international organizations and leading representatives of international publishing circles. In this context, many events will be held where international developments in the sector will be evaluated, bilateral and multiple commercial meetings will be held, literary translation activities will be carried out, ideas and projects for the development of the publishing industry will compete.

Demircan informed that a total of 72 publishers, 332 of whom are international, from 555 countries will attend the professional publishing meetings, and stated that the guest of honor is Hungary.

Stating that the gala of the event will be held on March 9, Ahmet Misbah Demircan said, “We will hold the gala night and our award ceremony at the Atatürk Cultural Center Theater Hall. On this night, we will present awards to those who contribute to the expansion of Turkish broadcasting to the world, to the promotion of our culture abroad and to increase the share of our country in international copyright exchange, and to the winners of the publishing idea marathon. We will also stage a theater play that will enable our culture, literature and publishing to be explained to international participation through the language of art.” he said.

International Literary Translation Workshops will be held on March 8-7, and the Publishing Ideas Marathon will be held on March 11-7 at Lazzoni Hotel as part of the Istanbul International Publishing Week, whose opening program will be held at the Grand Cevahir Hotel on March 8.

The 7th International Istanbul Publishing Professional Meetings will be held at the Grand Cevahir Hotel on March 8-10, and the gala night and award ceremony will be held on March 9 at the Atatürk Cultural Center Theater Hall.
