İBB Launches 'Come With Safety' Campaign For Motor Couriers

IMM launched the 'Come Safely' campaign for tens of thousands of motocouriers who race against time every day. There will be no time pressure on the motocouriers with the move that invites you to add the phrase 'Come Safely' to the note section of the orders. They will not have to endanger themselves and other drivers in traffic.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) has started a new movement for the safety of thousands of men and women motorcycle courier in traffic. With the campaign that invites consumers to add the phrase 'Come Safely' to the notes section of the orders they place on online platforms, social awareness will develop against the pressure on motocouriers. Motocouriers will find the necessary time to check their equipment, obey traffic rules and drive safely. With the “Come Safely, Not Fastly” campaign, which is organized in cooperation with IMM and the International Labor Organization (ILO), which includes both consumers and employers, it is aimed to eliminate together the reasons that prevent the safe driving of motorbikes.

Motocouriers may face many dangers in traffic every day in order to fulfill thousands of orders on time. With the "Not Fast, but Safely" campaign, which was started from this point of view, it is aimed to contribute to the creation of the ideal delivery time for the consumers so that the orders can be delivered safely.

THE FIRST STEP OF THE CAMPAIGN IS IN JANUARY 2022

Within the scope of the 'Come Safely, Not Quickly' campaign, which was initiated to improve the working conditions of motocouriers, trainings were given to 240 motocourters in Istanbul, including citizens of the Republic of Turkey and foreigners with protection status. Within the scope of the training, map reading, first aid, effective communication with customers and safe driving training were given, and they were provided with a driver's license.

THE INDUSTRY GAVE TOGETHER

Within the scope of the Decent Work Opportunities for Refugees and Host Communities Project in Turkey, the Delivery Sector Social Dialogue Meeting was held on March 16, 2022, in order to develop solutions for the motor courier's right to work. Professional chambers and private sector representatives also took part in the meeting attended by the relevant units of IMM, Social Services Department, Transportation Department, OHS, İSPER, İPA, BIO, Institute Istanbul İSMEK.

A mutual dialogue was achieved at the meeting, which aimed to identify the main problem areas in the delivery sector and to develop solutions. Topics that will improve cooperation and public awareness were discussed.
