In IMM's 'Star Screening Project', 92 young talents became licensed athletes of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club. Athletes who took their first steps in their careers started to participate in the Turkish championships. 86 athletes discovered in the project achieved provincial and Turkish degrees.
The 'Star Athlete Screening Project' of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) has started to bear its first fruits. With the project, in which approximately 5 children between the ages of 15 and 800 participated and talented athletes were identified, 92 athletes became licensed athletes of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club (Istanbul BBSK). 86 athletes, who ran from success to success in the competitions they participated in, ranked in the competitions across Istanbul and Turkey. Esra Bingöl, who participated in the March 12, 2022 Olympic Trial and National Team Selections in Batman, won the gold medal and Tülin Ek won the silver medal. Young athletes won the right to represent our country in the Balkan Championship.
8 BRANCHES 782 ATHLETES
Within the scope of the project, which is aimed at children between the ages of 14 and 17, in 5 school gyms in 15 districts, children are given sports training in 8 olympic branches. A total of 68 students, 214 in athletics, 208 in gymnastics, 95 in wrestling, 49 in judo, 65 in taekwondo, 23 in badminton, 60 in table tennis and 782 in karate, are trained by trainers in the school gyms where the project is implemented.
92 NEW TALENTS FOR ISTANBUL BBSK
The stars of the future are discovered one by one in the project, which continues from where it left off with the end of the pandemic period. 92 athletes, who attracted the attention of trainers in athletics and wrestling in the rigorous training, measurements and screenings, are now fighting for Istanbul BBSK.
THEY STARTED TO COLLECT MEDALS
Athletes who took their first steps in Istanbul and their sports careers as licensed began to participate in the Turkish championships. 86 athletes who participated in the competitions within schools and clubs achieved provincial and Turkey degrees. Athletes also participate in jump-off tournaments to represent Istanbul and Turkey by participating in European and world championships.
'STAR ATHLETE SCREENING PROJECT'
The 'Star Athlete Screening Project' was implemented by the IMM Youth and Sports Directorate. The project, which is based on the determination of talented athletes and the creation of elite athlete groups in the branches they are related to, started in 2020. With the project, in which Istanbul BBSK and SPOR ISTANBUL are project partners, it is aimed to train more Olympic athletes in 8 branches, to create a source of athletes for clubs, and to contribute to the success of Istanbul and our country in international competitions.
