Alstom and Karabük University signed a Workplace Training and Practice protocol to provide engineering students with a practical training opportunity. Within the scope of the cooperation, which aims to contribute to the training of a qualified workforce in the sector, the first group of students to receive hands-on training within Alstom started working in the Istanbul office of Alstom, which serves as the regional center for Africa, Middle East, West and Central Asia, on February 7, 2022.
The protocol was signed by Alstom Turkey General Manager Volkan Karakılınç and Karabük University Rector Prof. Dr. Signed by Refik Polat.
The cooperation will enable Karabük University Faculty of Engineering Electrical Electronics, Automation and Rail Systems Engineering students to do internships in the field of "Railway Engineering" within Alstom by designing signaling equipment with digital methods and transferring them to drawings and interlocking applications. The program aims to enable students to get to know the sector better, gain experience about international railway standards and practices, and improve their problem solving and analytical thinking skills.

Karabuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Refik Polat “Opening the first Rail Systems Engineering Department in Turkey, our University trains graduates in this field and brings rail systems engineers, which our country needs for a long time, to the sector. With this cooperation, our engineer candidate students will crown their academic equipment with applied education. I wish that the cooperation between our university and Alstom will be beneficial to the railway sector, humanity and the environment.” said.
