Ankara Metropolitan Municipality added a new one to its “student-friendly” practices. The Environmental Protection and Control Department has transformed the EGO bus, which has completed its economic life, into "Outdoor Class". The project, which is an example of green transformation with wi-fi connection, where students can study alone with nature by being placed in parks, was showcased for the first time at the EKO CLIMATE Summit held at the ATO Congresium.
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality is now bringing together the environment and nature-friendly projects that it has realized by raising environmental awareness in the Baskent, with “student-friendly” projects.
Environmental Protection and Control Department transformed the EGO bus, which completed its economic life, into an 'Outdoor Class' state by using waste materials.
Thanks to the open-air classes to be placed in the capital's parks, students from the capital will have the opportunity to study alone with nature.
SAVING-FOCUSED RECYCLING PROJECTS ARE EXPANDING IN BAŞKENT
The Metropolitan Municipality, which recycles idle iron and wood materials into the economy, has made an unused EGO bus reusable for a different purpose with a savings-oriented sample project.
The bus, where seating groups, bookshelves, coffee tables and tiny stools, produced by the masters of the Environmental Protection and Control Department Workshop, are placed, will be open to the use of students who want to study in Başkent parks.
Head of Environmental Protection and Control Department Tolga Kepir, who stated that free wi-fi service will be provided with the electric solar panels placed on the buses, gave the following information:
“We took delivery of the 16-meter articulated bus, which was scrapped by EGO, and re-modified it by evaluating the tree branches pruned from the parks and all materials suitable for transformation. We turned the EGO bus, which has completed its economic life, into an open-air class in our own workshop, with our own resources and craftsmen. We provide electricity with solar energy in the living space we have created for students. We also provide free wi-fi service on our bus. Our students will have the opportunity to study in a safe environment while being alone with nature. In short, our aim is to create awareness of recycling and to integrate it with art. We get very positive feedback about these works.”
