Astrin Project 1915 Çanakkale Bridge Opens Today

Today is the 18th anniversary of the 1915 March 107 Çanakkale Victory. While Turkey commemorates its heroes 107 years ago, the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, which will make great contributions to the region, is put into service today.

Today is March 18 Çanakkale Victory and Martyrs' Day. It has been 18 years since the Turkish soldier, who, under the command of the Great Leader Atatürk, did not allow the enemy to pass on March 1915, 107 with the slogan 'Canakkale is impassable', wrote an epic that left its mark not only in the history of wars, but also in social and political life.

As every year, we will celebrate our victory with ceremonies while our martyrs are commemorated this year as well. There is an important development that distinguishes this year's events from the others. The 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, which connects the two sides of the Dardanelles Strait, will be put into service with an opening organization that will further strengthen the meaning of this year's 18 March Çanakkale Victory and Martyrs' Day ceremonies.

The 10 Çanakkale Bridge, which has the world's widest span and the highest steel piers, will be put into service today at 4. This work, which emerged in Çanakkale, will serve the country for centuries.

 Bridge of Symbols

The suspension bridge of the project, which has the highest towers in the world with a tower height of 2023 meters, whose 318-meter middle span symbolizes the centennial of our Republic, whose 18-meter steel towers symbolize the 1915 March 334, when the Çanakkale Naval Victory was won, and whose red-white towers represent the Turkish flag. has the title. The assembly of 4 cannonball figures, each of which weighs 75 tons and is 20,5 meters high, will be placed on the top of all 4 towers, symbolizing the cannonball that Seyit Onbaşı carries on his back.

To Be Tracked With Artificial Intelligence

The project stands out with its technical features as well as its symbolic and historical features; Fog, icing and accident risks will be monitored by artificial intelligence from control centers. Energy savings will also be achieved thanks to the LED highway lighting system.

Together with the bridge, the 101-kilometer Malkara-Çanakkale Highway will cause great changes both in Çanakkale, in the Marmara Region, in the Aegean Region, and especially in the western parts of the country. With the strong transportation infrastructure of the project, it will accelerate industry, technology, production, employment, tourism and agriculture.

“Contribution to Production 5 Billion 362 Million Euros”

These projects will be one of the top 10 economies of the future. In addition, environmental sensitivities were kept at the maximum level from the planning stage to the opening, wildlife was protected with the ecological bridge built, and care was taken not to disturb the sea creatures. With the reduction of carbon emissions after the bridge is opened, carbon savings will be as much as planting more than 225 thousand trees annually. In addition, the 500 km long Malkara-Çanakkale road will shorten the transportation by 5 kilometers. Transportation in the Dardanelles Strait will be reduced to 362 minutes.
