Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank stated that they opened Turkey's largest and the first science center in the Mediterranean, in Antalya, and said, "This is a gigantic science complex with its technological equipment, applied workshops, interactive exhibitions and library." said.

Minister Varank inaugurated the Antalya Science Center and Science Festival (BİLİMFEST), which was established on an area of ​​12 square meters in DokumaPark with the cooperation of Kepez Municipality and TÜBİTAK. Varank noted that they came together to bring Turkey's largest science center to the city and to open the science and technology festival BİLİMFEST, which will be one of the most important events in the region. Reminding that they have established science centers in 500 provinces, namely Konya, Kocaeli, Kayseri, Bursa, Elazığ and Istanbul, Varank stated that the efforts to establish science centers in Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Düzce and Denizli are continuing.

MASSIVE SCIENCE COMPLEX

“We are opening Turkey's largest science center and the Mediterranean's first science center in Antalya. This place has become a huge science complex with its technological equipment, hands-on workshops, interactive exhibitions and library.” Varank said that the center will offer hands-on workshop training in the fields of biology, chemistry, science, mathematics, astronomy, robotics, coding, woodwork and design. Emphasizing that young people will discover by observing, touching, hearing and trying, Varank said that thanks to entertaining and effective trainings, young people will experience a sense of curiosity and develop original ideas at a young age.

SCIENCE ENTHUSIASTS TOGETHER

Providing information about the center, Varank said, “There are Cemil Meriç Library, Botanic Park, City Museum, Martyrs Museum, Modern Art Gallery and Toy Museum on the Weaving Factory campus, which we are in now, apart from the science center. In other words, with its culture, architecture and thematic fiction, this place appeals not only to our youth, but also to everyone from 7 to 77. The best example of this is BİLİMFEST, which brings together science enthusiasts of all ages. At this festival, dozens of scientific events, workshops and exhibitions, competitions, stage shows, entertaining science shows and family games await our citizens from all over the region.” said.

DOMESTIC AND NATIONAL TECHNOLOGIES

Explaining that institutions such as Turkish Space Agency, TÜBİTAK, ASELSAN, HAVELSAN, ROKETSAN, TUSAŞ, TÜMOSAN also took part in BİLİMFEST, Varank said, “You will be able to watch the striking shows of our source of pride, Solo Türk and Turkish Stars in the sky. In addition, we exhibit our domestic and national technological products, which we are proud of, in the festival area, in order to inspire our youth. Varank invited the young people from the surrounding cities with their families to the Science Center and BİLİMFEST and said that the experience they will accumulate here will have a strong impact on their lives. EXPERIENCE IN 55 CITIES

Noting that they have opened science centers in cities where everyone can go, Varank reported that Experiment Technology Workshops, where they provide training in fields such as design, robotics, coding, space and nanotechnology, serve in 55 provinces.

TEKNOFEST FIRE WILL BURN IN THE BLACK SEA

Reminding that they brought 42 international schools that train the best software developers around the world to Turkey, Varank said, “With TEKNOFEST, which is now a world brand, tens of thousands of teams and hundreds of thousands of young people are competing with their own developed rockets, electric and autonomous vehicles, UAVs, submarines and projects. I invite all our young people and their families to participate in TEKNOFEST 30 in Samsun from 2022 August. This year, the fire of TEKNOFEST will burn in the Black Sea.” he said.

SKY OBSERVATION FESTIVAL

Noting that there are sky-observation activities that our children can attend with their families, Varank said, “We have now extended this activity, which we had done only in Saklıkent, to other cities of Anatolia. STAR PROGRAM APPLICATIONS STARTED

Explaining that they carry out the Trainee Researcher Scholarship Program (STAR) through TÜBİTAK and that they gain experience in R&D projects carried out or supported by TÜBİTAK, Varank explained that they have started to receive applications for the STAR program, which will give scholarships to 2300 more students, as of today.
