IGA Istanbul Airport announced the “Dreams Are Moving Digital – From Canvas to Pixels” project, implemented in cooperation with the Turkish Autistic Support and Education Foundation (TODEV) and Upfilts technology partner, as part of the 2 April World Autism Awareness Day. Within the scope of the project, children with autism had the opportunity to experience the accessible services of the airport, while the income from NFT sales was donated to TODEV.

Focusing on the goal of becoming a more "accessible" airport for all its guests, by caring about the rights of all individuals with special needs from the moment they are born, with the goal of "Airport for All", IGA Istanbul Airport has added an important social responsibility project to its work in this area.

The “Dreams Are Moving Digital – From Canvas to Pixels” project, initiated by İGA Istanbul Airport to ensure that individuals with autism are better understood by the society; It was implemented last November with the support of the Turkish Autistic Support and Education Foundation (TODEV). Within the scope of the project, autistic children illustrated the journey of their dreams. The pictures were transferred to digital platforms such as SparkAR, and then inspired by the narratives made by children while drawing, they were strengthened with visual effects and animations through various 2D and 3D design programs. Thanks to AR technology, the pictures, enriched by animation, were allowed to be experienced by the users on their own social media accounts. Thus, the limitless imaginations of children have been digitized so that they can be better understood.

“Magic Journey” from Istanbul to Antalya

Dreams Move to Digital – Another important step of the Canvas to Pixel project was to provide children with a more comfortable and accessible travel experience. The children traveled to Antalya with their families by using the services of Istanbul Airport's IGA Yanımda and had a pleasant time at The Land of Legends Theme Park.

The last step of the project was the creation of NFT copies of the works. Unique in every sense, the paintings sold for $1000 each and all proceeds were donated to TODEV. In addition, people who want to donate for the project will be able to support TODEV by visiting the website canvasdenpiksele.com.

A free and comfortable travel experience for everyone

IGA Istanbul Airport CEO Kadri Samsunlu, who opened the exhibition in front of the Istanbul text in the terminal area, pointed out that they wanted to provide a free and comfortable travel experience to all passengers. Samsunlu said, “The twinkle in the eyes of our children participating in the project reminds us how right and important all the steps we take for accessibility are, and gives us great strength to do more. This project, which emerged as a result of a workshop, continued with a pleasant journey and has also taken its share from the augmented reality of the last period, addresses many areas where IGA Istanbul Airport touches and asserts its claims, from art to technology. It is very valuable for all of us to be able to see the imagination of our children with such a technology and to better understand them.”
