Anadolu University Rector Prof. Dr. Fuat Erdal made the following statements about the National Rail Systems Test and Research Center Project (URAYSİM), which will be built in Eskişehir's Alpu district, on the website of AU.
“URAYSİM is one of the vision projects of our country's domestic and national production model understanding, announced by our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan from Eskişehir and which will make Turkey one of the world's leading centers in the field of rail systems. With the URAYSİM project, which I believe will be a very important part of the domestic and national production model vision in our country, especially in recent years; First of all, the increasing needs of our cities using TCDD and light rail systems will be met and our country will be able to export both railway vehicles and various components.”

“In addition to this, URAYSİM will also offer advanced technology services not available in any European country for the testing and certification of high-speed trains. Thus, URAYSİM will make our country one of the most important players in the international market in the field of rail systems. URAYSİM, which we see only in countries such as the USA and Germany, and where very large international companies compete to establish partnerships, is a project that will move our country forward in the field of rail systems. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who pioneered the realization of this vision project of our country, our Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, all our stakeholders and everyone who contributed.”
What is URAYSIM?
URAYSİM, which is included in the Presidency Investment Program, has the feature of being the most important project implemented recently in terms of railway transportation in our country. The studies carried out for the realization of the URAYSİM Project, which is aimed to lead the rail system sector with the development of high-tech infrastructure, are carried out under the responsibility of Anadolu University and in cooperation with Eskişehir Technical University, the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), the Republic of Turkey State Railways (TCDD) and TÜRASAŞ. With the project, Turkey will be in a more competitive position in the international railway industry market as the first country in Europe to have a 400 km long test track where High Speed Train tests can be carried out at 52,93 km/h. The project, which will meet the needs of TÜRASAŞ with the completion of the test units, buildings and roads, will bring many gains such as the realization of production with domestic facilities, having an international say, training personnel and researchers in the field of railway transportation.
