Planning to take the traffic in front of Alsancak Station underground with the Alsancak Vahap Özaltay Underpass project, the Metropolitan Municipality will undertake two important transportation projects to reduce the traffic density in the region and to create alternative routes. A highway underpass that will connect Mürselpaşa Boulevard to the Food Bazaar and a highway bridge over the stream that will connect Ege Mahallesi to Mürselpaşa Boulevard will be built.
Mürselpaşa Underpass works begin
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality completed the tender process to create an alternative transportation route that will connect Mürselpaşa Boulevard to the Food Bazaar and delivered the site to the company that won the tender. The investment of 56 million 658 thousand liras will be completed in one year.
430 meters long
According to the project prepared by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Department of Transportation, the underpass that will connect Mürselpaşa Boulevard to the Food Bazaar will be 430 meters long and 35 meters wide. The underpass to be built under the İZBAN line will serve as 2 lanes of arrival and 2 lanes of departure.
Access to the Food Bazaar will become easier
When the underpass is completed, direct access to the Food Bazaar, one of the city's important trade centers, will be provided. Entrances and exits to Mürselpaşa Boulevard and Food Bazaar will be relieved, and transportation to the city center will be easier. Traffic congestion will decrease on Mürselpaşa Boulevard, one of the most densely populated points in İzmir. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality opened a new connection road connecting the side road of Mürselpaşa Boulevard to the Food Bazaar in 2020, and connected the hospital to the main street.
Tender is also going out for Ege Mahallesi Junction
İzmir Metropolitan Municipality is preparing to go out to tender for the 5-lane Ege Mahallesi bridge over the creek, which will connect Mürselpaşa Boulevard to the direction of Ege Mahallesi and from the direction of Ege Mahallesi to Mürselpaşa Boulevard. The reinforced concrete bridge will be 41,5 meters long. The bridge, which will be 23,5 meters wide in the direction of Ege Mahallesi, will reach a width of 45 meters at the connection to Mürselpaşa Boulevard.
