Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy was the guest of the Alarm Clock Program with İsmail Küçükkaya on Fox TV. Pointing out that Turkey's tourism potential should grow, Minister Ersoy said, “Turkey's target in 2028 should be 120 million tourists and 100 billion dollars income. This is not a difficult target for Turkey. It is a very achievable target.” said.

Minister Ersoy stated that Turkey has been affected by global crises from past to present due to its geopolitical position, but that crises can be successfully overcome, and said:

“You have to become immune to crises. The most important vaccine for this is market diversity. The more market diversity you achieve in all sectors, the more immune to crises you will become. This was at the very beginning when we were setting the 2023 tourism targets. We established the Tourism Development Agency (TGA) to capture market diversity. This is a law that we brought to our country, which has existed in the world for a hundred years, in 2019. With this law, we started a very tight promotion of the state and the sector. We made a promotion like never before in the history of Turkey. We can take these figures much further. Turkey is among the countries with the best tourism potential in the world, but it is not in the place it deserves. Our intense promotion around the world enabled us to get out of the pandemic period faster than our competitors. During the pandemic, we made digital promotions in more than 21 countries through televisions in 80 countries. Currently, Turkey is promoting on international channels and digital platforms in 120 countries.”

“There is no example of a burnt forest land being opened to tourism accommodation allocation”

Pointing out that there has been an average of 40 thousand tourist arrivals in Istanbul for the last week, Ersoy underlined that they have achieved the pre-epidemic figures and expressed that these figures are an indicator of how quickly the market diversity strategy yields results.

Minister Ersoy emphasized that TGA will use a promotional budget of more than 100 million dollars this year and said, “We are currently making the most intense promotion in Turkey and the most effective in the world from the past to the present. It doesn't matter if you spend a lot of money. It is important that you spend the money in the right place and make effective publicity.” used the expressions.

Mentioning the changes made in the Tourism Incentive Law No. 2634, Ersoy gave the following information:

“First of all, it was said that the hotel license powers of the municipalities are being taken away. On the contrary, the authority of the municipality is stipulated. Secondly, it was the claim that the burned forest areas would be opened to tourism and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism was the only authorized one. Now look, there is a misconception here as well. With this law prepared in 1982, 3 ministries are authorized to allocate accommodation for tourism accommodation purposes. Then, in 2008, during the AK Party governments, 3 restrictions were introduced. 'No more unlimited forests should be allocated. Do not give unlimited precedents and be limited to 30 percent. Also, let him provide the financing needed for the forest land, which is 3 times as much as that area, which opens an investment area in the forest land.' it is called. In 2021, since the ministry specialized in accommodation is the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, allocations related to accommodation should be made only by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism from now on. It was also said here; The Ministry of Culture and Tourism cannot do it on its own. He will ask for the land from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. If deemed appropriate, it will be able to start the allocation process.”

Mehmet Nuri Ersoy pointed out that burning forest lands are protected by the constitution and underlined that there is no example of a burned forest land being opened to tourism accommodation allocation.

“We declared May 21-27 as Turkish Cuisine Week”

Noting that 464 librarians will be recruited to the Library and Publications Directorate during the year, Ersoy continued his words as follows:

“Turkey's target in 2028 should be 120 million tourists and 100 billion dollars in revenue. This is not a difficult target for Turkey. A very achievable target. We will reach these figures by working hand in hand with the industry and the state. There is more than enough of this potential in Turkey. We will reach. Another 27-28-year-old issue was the issue of wage earners. We solved that gangrenous wound and contracted 3 thousand artists. We gained their personal rights and now they work regularly. We, as the Ministry, have taken the biggest step in this regard. I think we have solved a big problem.”

Emphasizing that Istanbul hosted 15 million tourists before the epidemic, Ersoy said, “Our goal this year is to catch the pre-pandemic figures. For the last 2 years, we have been doing a very intense promotional campaign with TGA. We are already starting to get results. Despite the pandemic, Istanbul has started to appear as the first destination in many leading tourism media. If you promote correctly and effectively, you bring your product to the place you deserve. We started to see the results of that.” made its assessment.

Noting that Istanbul needs to be promoted in many ways, Ersoy said that Istanbul is not just a city with historical and natural beauties, and said, “One of our primary goals is gastronomy. We have a lot of work to do on this. We declared May 21-27 as the Turkish Cuisine Week and we are working on this, especially in Istanbul and certain provinces, to make 'Gastrocity'.” he said.

Minister Ersoy pointed out that the Beyoğlu Cultural Road Festival, which was held on October 29, 2021, received 7.8 million visitors and said, “The second of this festival will be held between 28 May – 12 June. However, this time we will organize the Capital Culture Road Festival alongside Istanbul. It also has a route of 4,7 kilometers. In 2023, İzmir and Diyarbakır will be included in these festivals.” used the expressions.

Adding that the restoration works in the Maiden's Tower are continuing, Ersoy stated that the materials used in the previous restorations damaged the structure and underlined that the restoration using original materials will be completed in October.

Mehmet Nuri Ersoy opened the Alaeddin Yavaşca Museum in Kilis to the artist, performer and composer Prof. Dr. He also emphasized that they opened on 23 March, the birthday of Alaeddin Yavaşca.
