Torch Ceremony of Winter Paralympic Games Held in Mandeville

The torch ceremony for the Beijing 2022 Winter Paralympic Games was held yesterday at England's Mandeville Stadium.

In his speech, China's Ambassador to London Zheng Zeguang stated that three days later, the Paralympic fire will be lit on the main torch tower of the China National Stadium and the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Games will open.

Zheng Zeguang stated that the Chinese government always prioritizes the health and safety of all participating parties and that by creating a good competition environment, they will present a simple, safe and perfect Paralympic Games to the world.

The design inspiration for the fire platform of the Winter Paralympic Games comes from the Chinese traditional bronze ritual vessel “Zun”. The auspicious cloud pattern is made of snowflakes, symbolizing the legacy of the 2008 Paralympics and 2022 Winter Paralympics.

Mandeville is the birthplace of the Paralympic Games. Every Paralympic torch has been lit from here since the London Paralympics in 2012.

The torch run of the Beijing Winter Paralympic Games will be held from March 2-4, 2022 in Beijing, Yanqing and Zhangjiakou districts.
