The musical called “Muzikhaller” was staged at the festival held on the occasion of March 27, World Theater Day.

The Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, who attended the screening held at Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM) with his wife Pervin Ersoy, said in a statement to the press that March 27, World Theater Day was celebrated in a much more comprehensive way this year.

Pointing out that many plays were staged during the two-day World Theater Day Festival, Ersoy said:

“Private theaters and State Theaters collaborated and we celebrate World Theater Day with 26 performances on March 27-199. 86 plays from private theaters, 29 from State Theaters, 20 plays for little ones. We are celebrating this year with a total of 135 games. Especially in the years to come, we want to celebrate it not only on March 27, but also spread over 81 provinces.”

Mentioning the play “Muzikhaller”, Ersoy drew attention to the fact that the distinguished music and dances of the musicals that were staged before in Turkey are included in the musical work.

International statement read

Before the screening, the International Proclamation of World Theater Day, March 27, 2022, written by the American theater and opera director Peter Sellars, was read.

The play, in which the actors of the Istanbul State Theater replayed and sang a selection of songs from Turkish musicals, and brought them together with the audience, lasted about 1 hour.

Nazlı Uğurtaş, Rojhat Özsoy, Zeynep Kızıltan, Meriç Akay and Ebru Kaymakçı took the stage in the play, which was directed by Can Şıkyıldız and supervised by Mine Tüfekçioğlu and Elif Erdal.

Accompanied by the orchestra, the play was watched by many theatergoers, together with the Director of the Istanbul State Theater Kubilay Karslıoğlu, as well as the Minister Ersoy.
